investment of Rs 1,960 crore was made to build the circuit on 874 acres of barren land
which originally belonged to farmers. According to Thelka the land was acquired for Rs
800 per sq m from farmers who used to grow three different types of crops every year.
Land from 10 to 12 villages in greater Noida was acquired by the state government for
industrial purposes using section 17 of land acquisition act of 1984.
Organizers Faced 200 Crore INR Notice
The Enforcement Directorate issued an estimated Rs 200 Cr notice for violation of
foreign exchange rules. The notice was issued under the Foreign Exchange
Management Act of 1999,The notices alleges contravention of forex in the preparation of
the F1 race and is pegged at close to Rs 200 crore
Supreme Court Notice
Supreme Court had issued a notice to the state government for waiving entertainment
and luxury tax for the Formula One. The notice was carried out due to a PIL which was
filled.
Hosting Rights
F1 has taken away the hosting rights from India for the year 2014 and 2015 due to
heavy taxes and duties imposed by the government.
