"Educational
Technology in the 21st
Century Education"

2. • Here we are to talk
about technology and
the role it plays in
the 21st century
education....
3. • In the 21st century
educators must create a
curriculum that will help
students connect with...
incorporate many skills and
intelligence levels, and
makes use of technology
and multimedia.
4. • The role of technology is helping
the educators promote and teach
the 4 c's (critical thinking,
collaboration, communcation, and
creativity) of 21st century
learning. We are teaching
students skills that they will
need once they are out of their
educational career and serve our
communities.
5. The Role of Technology in 21st
Century Learning:
1. Technology allows for 24/7
access to information
2. Constant social interaction, and
3. Easily created and shared
digital content
6. Three broad areas to
integrate technology as
a fundamental building
block into education:
7. 1. Use technology comprehensively to
develop proficiency in 21st century
skills.
* Knowledge of core content is necessary, but no longer
sufficient, for success in a competitive world. Even if
all students mastered core academic subjects, they
still would be woefully underprepared to succeed in
postsecondary institutions and workplaces, which
increasingly value people who can use their knowledge
to communicate, collaborate, analyze, create,
innovate and solve problems. Used comprehensively,
technology helps students develop 21st century skills.
8. 2. Use technology comprehensively to
support innovative teaching and
learning
• * To keep pace with a changing world, schools need to
offer more rigorous, relevant and engaging
opportunities fro students to learn - and to apply
their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways. Used
comprehensively, technology supports new, research-
based approaches and promising practices in teaching
and learning.
9. • 3. Use technology
comprehensively to create
robust education support
systems.
* To be effective in schools and classrooms,
teachers and administrators need training,
tools and proficiencyin 21st skills themselves.
Used comprehensively , technology transforms
standards and assessment, curriculum and
instruction, professional development, learning
environments, and administration.
10. • Both teachers and the students
are convinced about the
important contributions of
educational technoloy can offer.
If properly selected and used,
instructional materials can do
the following...
11. • 1. Arouse and sustain the interest and
attention of the pupils/ students to
learn.
• 2. Concretize abstract concepts/ ideas
to promote meaningful learning.
• 3. Makes learning more permanent
because of the rich experiences that
they provide.
12. • 4. Provide self-activities for
independent learning.
• 5. Increase vocabulary by
eliminating verbalism.
• 6. Develop continuity of thought.
13. • 7. Increase the quality of learning
while decreasing the time spent.
• 8. Check pupils preparedness.
• 9. Make learning more interactive,
hence learning is improved.
