- Welcome to Huawei Symantec Technologies Co., Ltd Huawei Symantec, founded in May, 2007, is a joint venture established by Huawei and Symantec Corporation. Huawei Symantec is headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. John W. Thompson, chairman and president of Symantec Corporation, is appointed chairman of Huawei Symantec, and Mr. Ren Zhengfei, president of Huawei, is appointed president of Huawei Symantec. Since its establishment, Huawei Symantec has been committed to providing efficient and complete security and storage solutions for worldwide telecommunication operators and enterprises.
- Although the Huawei Symantec joint venture may be new, storage and network security products have been researched and developed by Huawei since 2000. Many of our products are now in their 3 rd or 4 th generation with over 8 year’s development. We have established 5 storage and security R&D center, based in China and India. Capital investment amounts to over $157 million.

- In the greatest majority of cases, solutions will be based around a dual controller solutions with two paths from each host (ie: server) to the storage, regardless of whether the storage interconnect is Fibre Channel, iSCSI or SAS. To manage the two paths whilst providing a single image of the storage device to t he Operating System, multipath management software must be installed on each host. Huawei Symantec supply a software package called “UltraPath” that performs this path management function.
- Serial Attached SCSI is a high performance interconnect that uses the SCSI command set found on parallel SCSI but over a serial link. This transition to a serial link will allow higher throughput, higher number of device connections and is becoming the defacto choice for high performance backend storage connections. Serial ATA is a similar evolution where serial link technology has been used to overcome the limitations of high speed parallel buses. Parallel ATA / IDE disks have now been replaced by SATA as the low cost, high capacity interconnect. As can be seen from the disks available, disks with a SAS interface tend to be lower capacity, high rotational speed (reducing seek time) and higher cost devices. These are suitable for critical business applications, transaction processing and applications where random access and rapid response are needed. SATA devices are high capacity, low speed devices more suited to archiving and lower priority access.
