1. Le Futur
This project will be reinforcing and testing your knowledge of the future tense. The first day will
take place in the computer lab and the second class will be an interactive project to be presented
in our classroom.
Your grade will be the equivalent of ONE TEST SCORE.
LATE PROJECTS will NOT be accepted, unless you have a good excuse, ie. lightning struck
your house, and burnt it down. GOT IT?
GRAMMATICAL RULES
• You must use the future tense with more than one pronoun.
• You must use at least 3 verbs other than “aller”, ie. j’irai au musee—you will want to
use aller all the time, please do not.
• Correct punctuation, (accents, periods, capitalization etc.) on everthing.
• USE A DICTIONARY! That’s how you know the correct spelling.
• Remember: I do not take points off if you get it wrong as you are learning, I take points
off if it is obvious you made no effort to ensure things were correct.
Theme: Les Pays Francophone et La Francophonie
• We will be learning about Les Pays Francophones, and using the future tense at the same
time.
• Remember: Many of these countries the language is French, but they ARE NOT French.
Part I: will be due on Wednedsay, 5/10
• This is the individual portion of the project.
• Itinerary of a 5 day trip to a Francophone country of your choice.
• The trip will be taking place in the future, ie. next month, next week.
Part II: will be due Thursday, 5/17
(we will work on them in class on Thursday, 4/26)
• This will be done in groups of 3 or 4
• Create a 2 minute TV spot of one of the countries your group members has decided to visit
(ie. they wrote an itinerary for it).
• The objective will be to attract tourists to your country.
Part I: Computer Lab
We will be looking at 2 websites:
francaise_1040/francophonie_3026/francais-dans-monde_11936/carte-du-monde-
francophone_6513.html
o This site provides a nice overview of the Francophone world.
o Read and familiarize yourself with the countries included in le monde
Francophone.
1
2. • http://www.edufle.net/La-Francophonie
1. You may choose any country you would like, as long as it is French speaking and part of
the Francophone world. There is a list on this site, but they are not all part of the
Francophone world! You may choose any country that is a part of that world on that list.
2. There is a list of questions which must be answered in class. Email one copy to yourself
and give one to me at the end of class TODAY.
3. Click on the country you have chosen, to not only answer the questions #1-6, but to find
out any additional details you will need to plan your trip.
o These questions will provide the focus you need to develop your trip, and you
will need them for your TV spot.
4. Remember this is fun! Find things that interest you and why you would like to see them in
your country of choice. If you need to use other sites, please do, and list them in your
paper.
Your trip!
You may go alone, with friends, and it is up to you to decide what you would like to see in the
country you have chosen.
Itinerary
1. Write a brief introductory paragraph that will include the following
(a paragraph-20 sentences):
a. A brief history (is it in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean?)
b. Culture (art, music, literature, is French the language of the elite, or of everyone?
What do they speak if not French?)
c. Simple economic details (currency? Is it the Euro or something else? How do they
make their money? Farming, industrial, high tech?) of the chosen country. (all
this info should be from the country’s site, feel free to use others.)
d. The trip will be 5 days; please include a line or two about why each site is
important to see, or why a certain food is necessary to try, in your paper.
2. Itinerary-no need to get too specific, simply state where you will be going on a certain
day. It can be a museum, a restaurant and shopping, a cruise, etc..,
a. You MUST have one or two sentences saying why you chose this spot to visit.
b. Photos, or any other info you can find, will need to be included as you will also
need them for your TV spot.
TV Spot
Follow the grammatical rules above, EXCEPT, you can use NOUS and VOUS only if you’d like.
(Je probably won’t be necessary, since you are speaking to a group of people)
• You must hand in a written copy of your TV spot as well. (include all of your group
members’ names)
• Each spot will be 2 minutes.
• You can bring pictures, draw pictures, use music, anything you’d like! The more fun, the
more creative the better.
• The objective/goal of the TV spot is to increase the number of tourists to that country.
• The future tense MUST be incorporated into the ads: “Vous aimerez la Martinique”, “Vous
irez aux musées a Montreal” etc… , and answer these questions:
2
3. • What is the weather like?
• Why do we want to go to this country?
o What can we do and see that is fun?
o Are there unusual animals, sites, museums to see?
• Use your group members’ itinerary to help decide what you think people would love to see in
your country AND what you think will encourage them to visit.
• The spots will be presented during the 4/20 class.
