–No prebuilt 1220 image available yet
–Do fresh install from media during first run
–Take snapshot of the VM after the install
–Use the snapshot to create VMs during subsequent

–Add additional CPU to the server to speed up the
upgrade driver
–Incase of patch issues, easily restore backup
snapshot and start over

the online patching
–Helps in restore quickly incase of issues
–Extra CPUs can help as well in speeding up

• Install 12.2.7 RUP patch
–Use Oracle supplied 12.2.7 VM images to build
fresh VM instead of installing patch
–Detach 1227 volumes from this VM and attach to
your VM
–Run the patch with nocopy & nogen options
–Add extra CPU to DB node to speed up patching
–Take post patch snapshot as a fallback point incase
of post upgrade step issues

–Use EBS Provisioning tool, easy menu driven tool,
to Add additional middle tiers to existing instance
–Comes with EBS Provisioning VM on Classic
