Lena- appears to be the longest river in the world
  when viewed in the map.
FACTS
As seen from the
  Earth's orbit, the
  Nile has the classic
  Greek delta (Δ)
  shape after which
  River deltas were
  named.

  1. “ Any river is really the summation of the whole valley. To think of it as nothing but water is to ignore the greater part.”  — (Hal Borland,  This Hill, This Valley ) -to start, let me give you an excerpt of the rather ancient 1957 book of author Hal Borland. <read> -we all know that rivers contribute a lot to the essential biological cycles in Earth, and to regard it as merely water is a failure to know of what rivers are in general.
  2. -
  3. Abiotic ecosystem? Flow -different flow intensity creates a variety of habitats for species that have different abilities to sustain flows. It also determines the amount of nutrients being deposited and carried out. -where their internal temperatures vary with their environment. This is designed as such so as to accommodate the different locations of the different parts of the rivers. -being a diverse biotic environment, oxygen is the most abundant nutrient?and factor in the different chemical metabolism -the type of substrate wether it is firm or loose affects the intensity of erosion.
  4. Mississippi river- which is considered as the red river for having a sandy red substrate that mainly comes from the glaciers in Minnesota Palawan underground river- where a few of plankters are found since it is not directly sustained by sunlight.
  5. Biotic ecosystem? Bacteria- both free-living and parasitic bacteria can be dominantly found in rivers. Parasitic forms mainly come from creeks and canals that sourced out from sewages. Primary producers- have both phytoplankton and periphyton. Periphyton attach themselves to surfaces which is a good adaptation for flowing waters. Invertebrates- most are insects, though not mainly found in the water, their habitat is being sustained by the river. Fishes- river fishes are classified in two, anadromous fishes such as salmons are born in freshwater and live in the oceans as adults. Catadromous fishes such as eels are born in the oceans and live in the freshwater as adults.
  6. Basking malachite- which is a native and can only be found in the thorn river of south africa, inhabits ckear, shallow, rocky streams with abundance of long grass, and bushes Indus river dolphin- can only be found in the ganges river in india? Their population though is reducing due to pollution.
  7. Rivers being tagged as rivers of life has various uses. They serve as... Hydroelectric power- this is the hydroelectric power in _________ which account to? Irrigation- Rivers in malaysia having fertile soil is also in farming with its water also used in the irrigation.alluvial means? Drainage and evacuation routes in the ganges river? Tourist attraction?
  8. Ganges- bathing in the river causes the remission of sins and facilitates  liberation  from the cycle of life and death.  Huang He- flooding Poatmology- Lena river in Russia- The Lena has the unusual distinction of appearing to be the longest river in the world when viewed on a map using a  Mercator projection , the most common method of displaying the spherical earth on a flat surface, due to that projection's tendency to exaggerate the size of areas near the poles Water skiing  was  invented  in 1922 on the  Mississippi  River, in a wide part of the river known as Lake Pepin Here are a few facts about rivers... Veins of the earth- when viewed in space, rivers look like veins of the earth, which figuratively relates to rivers being vital and serves as the passageway of the different nutrients and minerals of the Earth. The study of rivers is potamology from the greek word potamos The ganges river is also called as the holy river where the Hindu faithfuls worship the godess Ganga and believe that bathing in the river causes remission of sins and facilitates liberation from the cycle of life and death The most destructive river is the huang He river in China for it's outrageous flooding and is tagged as China's sorrow for having killed almost 5 million lives. Water skiing was invented in 1922 on the Mississippi River, in a wide part of the river known as Lake Pepin
  9. before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico about 100 miles (160 km) downstream from New Orleans. Measurements of the length of the Mississippi from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico vary, but the EPA's number is 2,320 miles (3733 km). Water skiing  was  invented  in 1922 on the  Mississippi  River, in a wide part of the river known as Lake Pepin Lake Itasca is part of the mississippi river. This is because before the lake empties into the gulf of mexico it is about 100 miles (160 km) to reach downstream and the length of mississippi from lake itasca to the gulf of mexico is 3733 km. The length and flow intensity of the river is enough for a drop to reach the other end in such a long period. Mississippi is in_____. Deltas are _________. Lena river in Russia- The Lena has the unusual distinction of appearing to be the longest river in the world when viewed on a map.
  10. This is using a  Mercator projection , the most common method of displaying the spherical earth on a flat surface, due to that projection's tendency to exaggerate the size of areas near the poles. Nile river in Egypt?
