A ‘tontine’ is named after a Neapolitan banker who is credited with
inventing it in 1653. By the mid-18th century, investors were
beginning to understand how game the system—for example, to buy
tontines for young children, especially for girls around the age of 5.
It has been written about in books. The Wrong Box by R.L. Stevenson
is an example. It makes an appearance in The Grand Budapest Hotel.
What is a tontine, and why did people buy one for girls?

Each subscriber pays an agreed sum into a fund, and thereafter
receives an annuity. As members die, their shares devolve to the
other participants, and so the value of each annuity increases. When
the penultimate member dies, the capital passes to the last survivor.
In those days girls lived longer than boys.

business.

A slip stitch in tailoring this is a used to finish clothing in a professional
looking way. The thread ends up between the folds of the hem and is
invisible on both sides.
This is especially useful in one particular item, where it helps in two ways—
to give some elasticity when this item is used, and also help it retain its
shape when loosened. If this thread is removed the item is ruined.
Where will one find a slip stitch, an item preferred especially by bankers?

The brand name of this product from William Grant & Sons, goes back
to the whisky making heritage of this distillery. It’s a reference to a
condition that malt-men picked up while working long shifts and
turning the barley by hand. This made their arm drop a bit like this
animal’s. The distillery still employs manual turning of the barley, but
with a much more conducive working environment, so, while the
