Case 1 - Week 1 introduces Detective Verena Roberts and focuses on building a personal learning network (PLN). It provides resources on starting a PLN, including joining networks, introducing yourself, participating, following others, searching for people with shared interests, and posting responses. Tips are given on tracking one's digital footprint by creating an online home base, blogging about digital identity links, pinning images to Pinterest, and tweeting with #DigiFoot12. Students are encouraged to register with networking sites and groups related to the course.

Having a PLN allows you to connect and share with other(s)... Think of
the Verizon network commercials … your network is always there
support you, answering questions, inspiring you and encouraging
your own learning.
It can take time to build up an active PLN – so don’t get discouraged. It
takes time to build community – but once its established – you can
benefit from the sharing.

20. Being connected
helps us as
learners....
These stages go
across
generations....
How can we learn
together? Youth
and adults?
21. Step 1 - Join a Network
Complete all parts of your profile.
◦ Let people know something about you.
Participate!
◦ Post a few messages.
Blank profile + no posts = boring person.
22. Use the site's search tool to find people talking
about things you're interested in.
Follow the people others are talking to.
◦ Example: You follow "Joe." Joe talks to "Sue." Start
following Sue.
Search for the bloggers whose content you read.
◦ Most bloggers link to their social networks on their
blogs.
23. Creating an account, following, and posting
messages isn't enough.
Post responses to other people's messages.
People in these networks expect to see
messages from new people.
24. Post a question.
Create a poll.
Post a link to something interesting and or
useful.
25. 1. Create an online "HOME BASE" (Start your PLN) to collect and
store all the information you will collect on your journey of
tracking your digital footprint.
PLN Starting options:
Blogging Information:
List of Free Blogging Sites
Wiki Information:
Evernote Information:
LiveBinder.com Information:
MightyBell Information:
Learnist Information:
Themeefy
26. 2. INTRODUCE yourself in one (or all) of the following places:
• #DigiFoot12 Introductions Google.doc
o https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jLzt2dg1r6Fbw1zh
RQ-Kq8nC4CQaOYrAcDWHj7mCN8Y/edit
• Student 2.0 website - #DigiFoot12 Group Discussion
• Sign up for MightyBell and post an artifact to the #DigiFoot12
Artifacts Project Page
27. 3. Tracking....
Google or search for "Digital Footprint".
• Choose different links that you like about digital
identity/footprints and write a blog post about them
• Google Digital Footprint images - link the image (remember to
include where you retrieved it from) to your HOME BASE. Write a
Blog post about why you chose the image
28. • Check out MightyBell passion projects. Link a great link to one
of the passion projects - then link that passion project to your
HOME base.
• Create a mindmap about what you think your footprint will look
like. Link the mindmap to your HOME base
• Search Digital footprints on Pinterest. Create your own login, or
pin some other images. Link your images to your HOME PAGE.
• Tweet about your work. Include the link and the hashtag
#DigiFoot12
29. Everyone is unique and is working at their own pace.
1. https://mightybell.com/spaces/90275d45823cbf27If
you could create a "#DigiFoot12" HomeBase and send
Verena the link OR link it to the Mightybell artifact page
- that would be great.
2. Introduce yourself in one of the discussion posts and
reply to someone else's post
The rest is up to you...Try new things......Make a Mess and
Have fun!
