Background and Rationale
The documents and records of an
institution are crucial to the conduct of
business and should be organized,
indexed and stored for easy access
and retrieval.
Which of the vast number of
documents created by an institution
have legal administrative, or research
value to warrant permanent retention
as archives? The establishment of the
institutional archives will ensure
appropriate and permanent care for
records of value, to make them
available for use now and in the
future.
The loss of corporate/ institutional
documents because of disasters
highlights the urgency of preparing
personnel in corporations, LGUs, etc.
so that they get the training and skills
of disaster management for records.
