2. Concept
• The storyline follows a couple throughout
their relationship, from the first date until their
engagement. The story is presented as they
create a scrapbook of memories.
• There will be no performance from a band,
however one of the memories is the couple
teaching each other how to play instruments,
so I will make them play in time to the song so
that there is a link
3. Influences
• I got my idea from real life, my brother and his
girlfriend recently got engaged and started to
make a scrap book of their relationship so far.
• I was also influenced by other media, for
example popular romance films and scenes,
such as the spaghetti scene in ‘The Lady and
the Tramp’
4. Influences
• Although my band won’t be seen in the video,
I will still create a band image for the Digipak.
For the band, I will use the original artist for
the song, Mcfly, as inspiration. This band
usually dress in a smart casual fashion, wearing
jeans and a smart shirt
5. Lyrics and Visuals
• I will link the lyrics and visuals through how I
decorate the scrapbook but also in the scenes.
For example, when the lyrics say “I hear what
the flowers say” I could decorate the page
with flowers, or have the boy giving the girl a
bunch of flowers.
• One of the scenes that is shown will be the
couple going on a picnic in the woods, and
when the lyrics say “And the birds sing” I will
cut to a shot of some birds in the trees
6. Music and the Visuals
• I am hoping to use stop motion as part of my
video, and at the start of the song, the singer
sings the word ‘Do’ repeatedly, so I was going
to have the title of the song being placed on
the scrapbook in time to these
• There is a consistent drum beat throughout
the song, and I will use this when editing my
footage together, trying to get the shots to
change in time to the music
7. Intertextual References
• I will try to use a few intertextual references
within my video, taking ideas from popular
romance films, and also from Disney films.
8. Forms
• Mise En Scene – I will be using different locations,
such as the park and inside a house, and will try to
use bright colours to keep in with the genre
conventions
• Editing – I will use quite quick editing so that it
feels like we see a lot of storyline in a short
amount of time
• Camerawork – I will try to use clean shots and will
use a tripod so that the camerawork is steady.
