2. Victor Olerskiy
In the first decade of the new cen-
tury, Zenit went from strength to
strength. Third and second place
finishes in the Russian Premier
League in 2001 and 2003 respec-
tively were followed by the club’s
first championship victory, win-
ning the league in 2006. In 2008
Zenit won the UEFA Cup after beat-
ing Glasgow Rangers two goals to
nil in the final. In the 2010 season
Zenit took home its second Rus-
sian Cup.
Newly signed manager Luciano
Spalletti took Zenit to achieve a
third Russian Cup later in 2010, fol-
lowed by a record 21-match unde-
feated run in the Russian Premier
League and a title gained with two
matches to spare.
Zenit took a fourth Russian Cup in
2016 before moving to a brand-new
stadium, Stadium St. Petersburg.
This stadium featured in the 2018
World Cup and has been rated on
of the greatest stadiums in Europe.
