Profitability with Energy Management
A survey was done in 1995, on 67
Norwegian companies showed “Cleaner
Production Assessment” resulted in better
profitability (Amundsen and Møller 1995).
• energy conservation may contribute
significantly to the results;
• energy advisors positively influence
the results with regard to energy
savings, economical and environmental
improvements;
• it is natural that energy should be
integrated in cleaner production
assessments in most sectors

Energy Monitoring System (EMS)
• Measure the energy consumption; energy consumption is to be
measured continually and on a regular basis.
• Find environmental performance indicators (EPIs). The energy
consumption is combined with other measurement data. EPIs should
be calculated by a responsible person frequently and reported to the
top management.
• Implement measures if necessary. EPIs should be addressed in the
appropriate organizational forums, so that corrective measures may be
carried out in the event of deviance.

Environmental policy
Rescon Mapei environmental management system is in accordance. BS EN ISO 14001. In addition covers the requirements in
EMAS. Rescon Mapei environmental policy includes a commitment to continuous improvement, so that the result will be an
improved environmental performance. This should be achieved by internal and external training and internal communications. In
addition, the company must undergo internal quality audits and environmental audits to ensure that improvement is continuous.
Rescon Mapei environmental policy should be the driving force for
implementation and improvement of organization's environmental management system so that it can maintain and potentially
improve its environmental performance.
Rescon Mapei environmental policy will form the basis for setting its
environmental and - objectives.
Environmental Steering undergoing relevant environmental objectives and targets, and the results
are annually highlighted in corporate EMAS report.
The objectives should always be such that we:
* Prevent and avoid accidents and environmental damages of any kind.
* Reduce waste, prevent spills and contamination of our installations.
* Utilizes energy and peripherals. Other natural resources in the most effective manner.
* Consulting, listening to, and responding openly to requests from customers, neighbors, governments and others in society.

Processes
Production at the MAPEI technician in Nord-Odal is divided into liquid products and powder products.
1. Liquid products
Production of additives for concrete
Production is a mixing and / or dissolution process chemicals in a closed system and provides no byproducts.
Production takes place without air emissions or water.
Production of thermosetting
Production is a mixing and dispersion of chemicals, fillers and pigments.
The process makes no byproducts. Production takes place without air emissions or water.
2. Powder Production
Production of special mortars
The production is a mechanical mixture of chemicals, cements and special sand.
The process makes no byproducts.
The production processes take place in a closed facility without air emissions or water.
commodity Storage
All chemicals used in the production are stored in their own thoughts. Except tank base epoxy, all thoughts secured against
emissions in that they are placed in the collecting tanks. IN the transport of raw materials may accidentally occur, for example. in
that packaging is damaged, and smaller amounts of chemicals leaking out within a limited area. It is set out absorbers
on all critical locations.

Production volume of consumption of raw materials,
water and energy
The amount of hazardous waste is largely stable, and is still within what one
might describe as normal fluctuations.
The decline in amount is probably the result of reduced production activity.
The same applies to the reduction in deposit mortar dust.
It has in many years been focusing on reducing the amount of wash water used in production. All production processes are
reviewed with a view to using less water each washing process. In recent years we have seen that the wash water quantity
has increased significantly due to production increase and high percentage returns from customers.
For 2008, it seems that one has got effect of the measures which were performed in 2007. Nevertheless, the proportion lower
than would normally be, because strong reduction in the production of additives in the last 2-3 months due to "Financial
crisis". The same consideration is also applicable for 2009.

Packing
All thermoset products and other liquid products come in packaging of tin or plastic.
The size varies from 0.3 liters to 200 liters. MAPEI technician are connected to the companies'
arrangements for the return and recycling of packaging waste; Green Dot Norway AS. In Sweden we
affiliated Reparegisteret AB.
Transportation
Rescon Mapei AS has no own transport. The company hires the necessary requirements to at any time. Internal transport is
done with diesel / El- trucks. Some of the company's sales staff uses company car.
Limits have been set for loading and unloading at the company in particular time of day.
The transport takes place at fixed agreements with carriers and by supplier ratings emphasized conditions affecting external
environment.
Consumer Guidance
All Rescon Mapei products are labeled according to current regulations. The information must
ensure that retail handle the product correctly and that the risk of misuse and / or any adverse effect on the environment.
Drawn up safety data sheets and product data sheets containing information on health and environmental hazards as well as
operating instructions. MAPEI technician arranges internal and external courses in the correct use of products.

Liquid products Production of additives for concrete Production is a mixing and / or dissolution process chemicals in a closed system and provides no byproducts. The decline in amount is probably the result of reduced production activity. The same applies to the reduction in deposit mortar dust. It has in many years been focusing on reducing the amount of wash water used in production. All production processes are reviewed with a view to using less water each washing process. In recent years we have seen that the wash water quantity has increased significantly due to production increase and high percentage returns from customers. For 2008, it seems that one has got effect of the measures which were performed in 2007. Nevertheless, the proportion lower than would normally be, because strong reduction in the production of additives in the last 2-3 months due to "Financial crisis". The same consideration is also applicable for 2009.

The size varies from 0.3 liters to 200 liters. MAPEI technician are connected to the companies' arrangements for the return and recycling of packaging waste; Green Dot Norway AS. In Sweden we affiliated Reparegisteret AB. Transportation Rescon Mapei AS has no own transport. The company hires the necessary requirements to at any time. Internal transport is done with diesel / El- trucks. Some of the company's sales staff uses company car. Limits have been set for loading and unloading at the company in particular time of day. The transport takes place at fixed agreements with carriers and by supplier ratings emphasized conditions affecting external environment.
