Consider a crystalline PV module with the following output parameters mentioned at STC (Standard Testing Condition) conditions by the manufacturer. Pmax = 300W Voc = 40V Isc = 8A NOCT = 40 degree C Temperature coefficient of power = -2W/ degree C If the ambient temperature falls to 15degree C while the irradiance is 1000W/m2, what is the cell level temperature in Degree C, as per the NOCT model? What is the new power output of the PV module in watts, under the ambient temperature of 15 degree C and 1000W/m2 irradiance? Solution The 1000 irradiance is converter to mW/cm2 as 100 Now we calculate Cell temperature by Tcell= Tair+ (NOCT-20)* S/80 Tair= 15 NOCT= 40 Hence after calculation we get Tcell= 40 As the temperature gets reduced obviously the power output becomes less. So it will bw les than 800w.
