2. Introduction to CORONAVIRUS
• Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted
between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that
SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and
MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known
coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet
infected humans.

5. COMMON SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:
• Respiratory symptoms
• Fever, and cough
• Shortness of breath and
• Breathing difficulties
• In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia
• Severe acute respiratory syndrome, and kidney failure
and even death.

6. DIAGNOSIS
Your healthcare provider may order laboratory tests on respiratory
specimens and serum (part of your blood) to detect human
coronaviruses. Laboratory testing is more likely to be used if you have
severe disease or are suspected of having MERS.
If you are experiencing symptoms, you should tell your healthcare
provider about any recent travel or contact with animals. Most MERS-
CoV infections have been reported from countries in the Arabian
Peninsula. Therefore reporting a travel history or contact with camels or
camel products is very important when trying to diagnose MERS.

• Deaths rise to at least 80 as China records thousands of new
cases: An outbreak of a new coronavirus started in the city of Wuhan
has been killed 80 peoples. Meanwhile infections have been
confirmed in other countries also. Approximately 3,000 people who
have so far contracted the virus, who live in China. The mayor of
Wuhan city, said there were about 3,000 patients in the city being
treated for the virus. Half of those patients, he said, would eventually
test positive for the disease.

12. How to protect others
• If you have cold-like symptoms, you can help protect others by
• doing the following
• stay home while you are sick
• avoid close contact with others
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or
sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
• clean and disinfect objects and surfaces

• Thoroughly cooking meat and eggs.
• Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of
respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

• Avoid unnecessary travelling.

15. Treatment
• There are no specific treatments for illnesses caused by human coronaviruses.
Most people with common human coronavirus illness will recover on their own.
However, you can do some things to relieve your symptoms
• take pain and fever medications (Caution: do not give Aspirin to children)
• use a room humidifier or take a hot shower to help ease a sore throat and cough
• If you are mildly sick, you should
• drink plenty of liquids
• stay home and rest
• If you are concerned about your symptoms, you should see your healthcare
provider.

• Coronavirus is rapidly spreading in china and middle east
countries in recent days, as per WHO outbreak in mentioned
areas is high and precaution have been suggested to the peoples.
This virus is rare and dangerous because there is no accurate
treatment or vaccine for the deadly virus and usually
precautions have to follow during travel and any signs and
symptoms found immediately seek medical care.
