1 SIMPLIFIED TRANSIT CALL SET UP
The following diagrams show the functional organisation of Alcatel 1000 E10.
For each one of the stages of the transit communication set up:
- indicate the functions involved,
- represent the path followed by interchanges between these functions.
Note:
This concerns a transit call using ITU no.7 signalling, incoming and outgoing.

1.1 Initiation of new call
1) An IAM message (Initial Address Message) is received on the signalling
channel SC1 (COC):
This message contains:
- the CallinG Party (CGP) directory number,
- the CalleD Party (CGD)directory number,
- Speech channel number (CIC) selected by the backward switch for this
call.
2) This message is received and checked by the PUPE, and then sent on the
MAS, to the Call Controller (CC).
3) One CC context is seized to process this call.

1.2 Incoming trunk circuit discriminations request
1) The CC sends a message containing the circuit identification to the translator
(TR) requesting the incoming trunk circuit discrimination.
2) The TR replies with the discriminations of the incoming circuit and circuit
group.

1.3 Reception and analysis of the CDP's directory number
1) The CC requests the translator (TR) to analyse the digits received. The digits
are received in the initial address message (IAM) and, if required, subsequent
address message (SAM).
2) Following this analysis, the translator (TR) replies with the routing number, the
trunk circuit group address and the destination signalling point number.

1.4 Speech channel selection and sending an IAM message (initial address
message) to the forward switch
1) The CC sends a message to the PUPE asking the PUPE to select a speech
channel (CIC) and a signalling channel (COC) towards the forward exchange.
2) The PUPE sends an IAM message to the forward switch, on the signalling
channel "SC2".
The contents of this message are :
- CDP directory number,
- CGP directory number,
- Speech channel number (CIC).

1.5 Reception and emission of ACM message (subscriber free)
1) Reception, from the forward switch, of the ACM message (address complete
message) indicate that the CDP is free.
2) Emission to the backward switch of the ACM message.

1.6 Speech channels bi-directional connection
1) The CC requests the marker (MQ), to organize the connection of backward
trunk circuit to the forward trunk circuit.
2) The marker (MQ) requests the connection manager (GX) to set up the
connection between the backward trunk circuit and the forward trunk circuit.
3) The connection manager (GX) sends a connection order to the matrix switch
controller (COM) and a connection reply to the marker (MQ).
4) The marker (MQ) replies to the CC that the connection has been established.

1.7 Reception and emission of answer message
1) The CDP in the forward exchange answers the call.
2) An ANM message (answer message) is received from the forward switch on
SC2.
3) Retransmission of this ANM message (answer message) to the backward
switch on SC1.
