EPISODE 4
TOOLS OF THE TRADE
(TEACHING AIDS BANK)
GROUP 4
PRESENTATION
OUR TARGETS
Gain more competencies
in preparing instructional
materials that are
appropriate to learning
content.
OUR MAPS
 Step 1. Decide on a specific content area.
 Step 2. Find out the learning resources relevant to
your topic that are available from your school/
university’s learning resource center.
 Step 3. Develop a pile of teaching aids(flash
cards, pictures, cut-outs transparencies)
 Step 4. Organize them in a box.
THREE BENEFITS FROM
SURVEYING AVAILABLE
MATERIALS BEFORE WE MAKE
OUR OWN MATERIALS
1. The 1st benefit of surveying material before making our
own is that we could have some ideas/prior knowledge of
what are the different strategies in making and beautifying
our own materials. In short it could serves as our guide.
2. Provide us some procedures, steps and give us points that
would employ in creating materials creatively in order to be
presentable to the learner. Give us some knowledge on
how to use them appropriately that could effect the
learning effectively. And also lead us how to be a
resourceful teacher in the future.
 3. Aside from that , it gave us thought about how to
employ the instructional materials effectively to the class.
From the survey we gathered there are lots of way we’ve
got on how to make materials that would motivate and
encourage the learner and how it will effect the learning
through using them in teaching and learning process that
would make the learner apply the learning out comes in
real world.
Our individual reflections
Questions:
1.what materials did you like
making the most?
2. what difficulties, if any, did
you encounter in making the
materials? How did you
overcome them?
3. what tips can you give to the
teachers regarding preparation
of teaching materials?
 The material that I like making the most is the power point
presentation because for me this is the easiest materials.
 The difficulties that I’ve encountered was making the
different kind of materials such as printed materials and
hand outs because in this materials it would consumed
time and money. I overcome all of this through my
perseverance, do my effort, and creativity and manage my
time.
 The tips that I can share to the teacher in preparing
his/her materials is the time management, good and
clear presentations in certain discussion so that the
learner would easy to learn and understand.

 The materials I’d like making the most are flashcards
because in making them I was able to show and
exercise my artistic side and also the materials needed
are quite affordable.
 I found cutting letters difficult in making flashcards I was
able to overcome that difficulty by using a trial and error
method in scratch paper before applying it to it’s
placement.
 The tips I can give to the teacher with regards to the
preparation of teaching materials are that they must be
resourceful and creative in doing them. They don’t need
to have expensive material. What they need to have are
the materials that fits to their budget. Their teaching
material must be readable if printed and audible if it
contains sound. And lastly , it must be a little bit artistic in
order for their students not to experience boredom.

 I like making power point presentations because
it is easy for me to put different designs that fit to
the subject matter. I can also insert pictures,
video clips and even sounds that easily caught
the attention of the student.
 Lack of time is one of the difficulty that I
encountered in making the material and to solve
this problem is to budget our time, set priorities,
and effective time management will be the key.
 The teacher must assess first what are the learning
styles of his/her students. He/she must used instructional
materials that will fit to the learning styles of the students
and must de applicable for the subject matter in order to
be effective the learner.
IRENE ORCALES

 The materials which I like most is making the power
point presentation because it easy to make, you can put
some beautiful designs, animations, video and any
colorful drawings that really motivate the learner.
 In making the hand outs of the presentation because it
needs money and time to spent in producing the printed
out materials. To overcome this difficulty I would give my
best effort to provide the lesser and affordable material
to the learner.
 The tips that I would share to the
teacher is that make the instructional
materials that engage learner to the
real world context in order to view
his/her knowledge in a broader
manner to the social context of the
teaching and learning process.

 For me the material that I like to do is the power point
presentations because in today’s generation the learners
or the students are demanding a change in the classroom
because of their ability to gather information.
 The difficulties that I encounter in making these material
was if there is no power of electricity. I could overcome
this that I’ve always be ready my materials and I’ll do my
best in making this materials
 My tips that I’m going to give to the teachers are they
should always be prepared, be responsible to the
individual differences of their students and always do
your best by doing those materials.

 Making power point presentation. It is because in making
power point presentation you can use the media to
attract the student, for them to listen attentively with the
topic and it would be interesting because there are many
ways to add the topic for the student to easily cope up
with lesson. You can download videos that are related to
lesson.
 In making power point presentation is easy for me but it
will be difficult sometimes If the materials you’ve been
preparing got on worst situation that you can’t use it like
for instance the electricity black out.
 In preparing your teaching material you have to consider
the three aspects:1. know the needs of the students so it
would be directly to the point. 2. the weakness of the
student, teacher should know these factor in the part of
the student in order that the students participate well.
 Last is the strength, the teacher must know this factor in
his/her student especially during the discussion.
