Alienta a los adolescentes a celebrar y conectarse con su singularidad personal. También discute cómo los adolescentes de hoy en día están más familiarizados con la tecnología y son más emprendedores que generaciones pasadas.
Eleven years ago, when I first taught in my first all girls school in Cincinnati, OH, at a time, I though I was going to die. I remember, it was very cold, I had very bad allergies/asthma and no one in that amazing place spoke Spanish. I was very appreciative because of the opportunity they had given me. I never went to the school for an interview, though, they found out about me because another boys school I went for an interview. The boys school did not give me the job but kept my resumé in their network. Only two weeks before the first day of class, the people from Seton High School called me and I accepted. I had been here for only few months, so my English was like seriously broken and my accent stronger. One day, I remember, I was in my room, -awesome one!!! I couldn’t stop wondering how was I going to ever know or recognize any of the voices of my students. They all sounded the same and looked even the same, for me,- of course Something bigger than me told me: “Virma, you will get there,like you have done it with your Spanish speakers students from Puerto Rico.” And so, it was! So, I have told you all this story because God has been so amazing with us and so wise that he has created us in a very, very unique way, while at the same time at the core of it all, we are One with Him.

Cuando ustedes no se sientan SINGULARES …
I would like you to go to the beach in your mind now. You will choose to be alone, with company, what type of company, what you wear, etc. You will go there for just be, be as happy as you can. Seating on the sand you can think about the people and pets who bring a smile to your face. Think about the places, things, and things you like to do that also make you smile. Go there in your mind stay for a while with the music I will play in the back ground and write whatever you want to after, still listening to the song for the second time. Enjoy feeling great!
