9. Other Mutaharrat
The Sun cleans the earth, buildings, walls,
doors, trees, grass, fruits when they
become najis.
First the najāsah on them has to be
removed and the area has to be made
wet. Thereafter the direct rays of the sun
are sufficient to dry it and make it tāhir
again.
‘Earth’ means soil, stone (or brick)
paved paths
The earth acts like a cleanser
(mutahhirāt) by walking on it when the
soles of our feet or shoes become najis.
The conditions are three:
• the earth itself should
not be najis,
• The earth should be dry
• The Najis substance (e.g.
blood or urine) should come
off by walking on the earth.
11. Question;Could you please explain the rule of mutanajis? If my left
hand has urine on it and I touch a door handle, is the door handle the
first mutanajis or second? Then if my right hand touches the door
handle, is my right hand the third mutanajis or first?
What comes into direct contact with a najasah is called a mutanajis,
and it is the first mutannajis.
If your left hand is wet with water and the wetness of that hand mixes
with the urine and then you touch the door handle [with that
wetness], the door handle is deemed as second the mutanajis. If your
right hand then touches the door handle and there is enough moisture
on your [right] hand or the handle then your right hand becomes the
third mutanajis.
However, the third mutanajis can no longer make other items impure,
irrespective of whether it is wet or dry.
