religious, educational, cultural and sporting facilities reflect

A key feature of the education at Waverley College is its

of students beyond the classroom through the extensive co-

5. The boys of the College have always been
renowned for their prowess in the sporting
arena.
Waverley College is a member of the
Associated Schools of NSW and this is our
primary sporting commitment. Every boy is
expected to become involved in the sporting
program of the school which has been
designed to help him explore his potential, to
develop sportsmanship and a camaraderie with
his own school friends and the students of
other schools.
6. The College Cadet Unit was first raised in 1911 when
Brother P A Conlon was Headmaster.
The Unit strength is now approximately 350, with all
boys in Year 8 serving one year with the Corps.
The Commanding Officer since 1977 has been Lt.
Colonel P R Frost the current Deputy Headmaster
(Senior).
The Unit provides support and services during their
introduction to living in the field.
Abseiling, Canoeing, Survival, Medics and Signals are
the mainstays of the modern instructional
program, but great emphasis is also placed on the
ability of the senior ranks in running the camp
administration.
7. The Eastern Suburbs Conference and Performing Arts Venue is a unique
and versatile venue for all corporate events, presentation
ceremonies, theatre and musical performances and only five minutes
from one of Australia's most well known landmarks, Bondi Beach.
The Performing Arts Centre Boasts:
• An air conditioned 215 seat Theatre and Orchestra Pit
• 80 seat Drama Studio with theatrical lights and sound desk
• 60 seat acoustically balanced Recital Room
• 24 Track Recording Studio utilising Pro Tools
• 11 'Break Out' rooms and 2 Dressing Rooms
• Parking for 75 cars
8. With the growing trend for Technology to be available in
the classroom and as a resource for students for self
learning and research Waverley College has in place
program which annually reviews IT resources available to
students and for staff in the classroom and implements
projects to benefit the Student and the learning
environment.
This has resulted technology resources on the High School
site providing access to both MAC and PC (*Windows XP)
environments, running specialist applications such as
Autocad 2009 (Technical Applied Science), Adobe Premiere
(Visual Arts) and Sibelius (Music) which compliment the
standard applications Microsoft Office, Adobe
Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash which are available to all.
9. The Libraries at Waverley College are contemporary 21st century learning
spaces providing the link between information sources and information
literacy so as to equip students to develop their potential.
We are committed to empower users to find answers for themselves
through the acquisition of information skills.
The library conducts programs infused with rich learning activities
embedded with technology and ICT to promote information literacy via the
acquisition of critical thinking skills.
The library offers a bright and comfortable space for individual or group
study, reflection, technology use and reading. The collection is
current, appealing and of interest to young people.
The library is staffed by caring and helpful adults who pride themselves in
assisting students reach their potential.
10. The Waterford campus is about 300 metres from the main
campus of Our Lady's Mount, the Junior School boys make
full use of all the Senior School facilities -
Chapel, swimming pool, gymnasium, hall and grounds at
Queens Park.
Contact is also kept with the Senior School in several ways.
Prefects are assigned to each year group and liaise with the
Student Representative Council regularly. Junior School
boys attend full school assemblies and participate in all
major school functions, with representatives carrying out
active roles on these important occasions.
The boys are always made to feel a respected part of the
full Waverley family.
