1. Weekly News from WCUMC-12/09/2012
Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world.
"Advent 2012
Christ the Way"
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar . . . the word of God
came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the
country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the
prophet:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.
And all people will see God’s salvation.’”
As believers in Christ, we are called to "prepare the way for the Lord" so
that people may come to God through a personal encounter with Jesus
Christ.
We can "prepare the way for the Lord" by:
Removing obstacles that get in the way of communicating the Good
News of God's love through Jesus Christ.
Recognizing that God calls us to grow every day, in every way of our
life.
Allowing the presence of the Holy Spirit to be evident in our lives.
The 2nd Sunday of Advent reminds us that preparing the way for the
Lord in the lives of others is our privilege and responsibility as followers
of Christ.
