Economic sustainable Transport system is important financial burden: 13% federal budget third largest area of expenditure about 50% going into public transportation.
The network is dense. And the timetables are harmonized. Junction stations: passengers profit from excellent conections: major Citys train arrives slightly before the hour and leaves some minutes after the hour: no waiting time for connections Timetable: every hour or every half hour train leaves on the same minutes… (no gaps, passengers know their connections) 265 train lines over 900 bus lines 19 ropeways, 14 funicular railways and 7 boat lines. These numbers do not include several hundred local tramway and bus lines in towns as Zurich, Geneva and Berne.
