A Treasure Hid in a Field
1. A Treasure Hid In A Field
First four parables are a warning of the Devil’s intention to infiltrate
the “kingdom”for the purposeof postponing it.
Matt 13:1-2 1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the
sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he
went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
First four parables.
Matt 13:34-36 34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in
parables;and without a parable spake he not unto them:
35 That it might be fulfilledwhich was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will
open my mouth in parables;I will utter things which have been kept secret
from the foundation of the world. 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude
away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying,
Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
Next three parables only to the disciples to give assurance Jesus
will go to extreme measures to insure Israel will get the
Kingdom.
Matt 13
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the
which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and
selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The “treasure” is Israel
Exod 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep
my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all
people: for all the earth is mine:
2. Deut 31:17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day,
and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they
shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so
that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us,
because our God is not among us?
Ps 135:4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel
for his peculiar treasure.
Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but
with everlastingkindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD
thy Redeemer.
The field; no question whatthis is:
Matt 13:38 The field is the world…
The “man” is God (Christbeing God in the flesh).
Matt 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying,
Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
Matt 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The
kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in
his field:
Matt 13:37 He answeredand said unto them, He that soweth the
good seed is the Son of man;
The buying is Christ purchasing notonly the church, but the world (with His
blood). The world in this sensewill be the land surface, as well as the
worldly “system”. This will convertto Christ.
Ps 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world,
and they that dwell therein.
3. Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the
church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great
voices in heaven, saying, The kingdomsof this world are become
the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for
ever and ever.
The “field” becomes the kingdomof “the Son of man”
Matt 13:37 He answeredand said unto them, He that soweth the
good seed is the Son of man;
Matt 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall
gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do
iniquity;
The meaning of the parable:
Somewherein the world is hidden true remnant of believing Israel.
Rom 11:25 For I wouldnot, brethren, that ye should be
ignorantof this mystery, lest ye shouldbe wise in your own
conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until
the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
God hides His face from Israelas a nation
Deut 31:17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day,
and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they
shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that
they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our
God is not among us?
4. Notice the third person, singular, Matthew 13:44—“hehideth,” there is no
object. He can either hide the treasureor hide Himself! (This matches the Sardis
period of history—Rev. 3:1–2.)
Matt 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in
a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy
thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our
faith; who for the joy that was set before him enduredthe
cross, despisingthe shame, and is set down at the right hand of
the throne of God.
1Cor 15:27-28 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he
saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which
did put all things under him.
28 And when all things the world and all that dwell there in
shall be subdued unto him,
then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things
under him, that God may be all in all.
All things curse because of Adam removed:
Rom 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered
from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the
children of God.
Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of
restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth
of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Hos 2:18-23 18 And in that day will I make a covenant for
them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of
heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: andI
will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the
earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth
thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in
lovingkindness, andin mercies.
5. 20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: andthou
shalt know the LORD.
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the
LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;
22 And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the
oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.
23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have
mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to
them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they
shall say, Thou art my God.
Amos 9:11-15 11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of
David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I
will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
12 That they may possess the remnantof Edom, and of all the
heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that
doeth this.
13 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman
shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him
that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine,
and all the hills shall melt.
14 And I will bringagain the captivity of my people of Israel,
and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they
shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also
make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land Israel is planted in the field God
purchased
, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land
which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son
Gave all he had, and bought the field (world)
, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlastinglife.
The world bought to get the “treasure”
6. 1John 2:1-2 1 My little children ‘Children’ of Israel
, these things write I unto
you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the
Father, Jesus Christthe righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our Israel (the treasure)
sins: and not for ours only,
but also for the sins of the whole world.
Pearl of Great Price
Matt 13
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchantman, seeking
goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that
he had, and bought it.
“AGAIN,” in the sameway (keep using the samekey to unlock the meaning).
The “goodly pearl” is not salvation, (if this is salvation you mustalso teach a
dozen ways to heaven, not ONE).
Salvation is without price it is a gift.
Acts 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee,
because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased
with money.
Eph 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man shouldboast.
A “pearl” in Scriptures stands for a person and usually for a female person. (The
pearl is a “precious stone.” The pearl is unique in that it is the only precious stone
that is an organism; all other stones—jewels, jasper, onyx, sapphire, ruby, topaz,
beryl, etc.—are inorganic minerals).
7. Prov 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far
above rubies.
Prov 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that
he shall have no need of spoil.
Matt 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye
your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet,
and turn again and rend you.
Prov 3:13-16 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the
man that getteth understanding.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver,
and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst
desire are not to be comparedunto her.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left handriches and
honour.
Zech 9:16 And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the
flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted
up as an ensign upon his land.
Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day
when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth
his own son that serveth him.
Pearl made fromsand after years of “tribulation” in the secretion from the oyster.
Rom 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerningIsrael, Though the number of
the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be
saved:
Acts 3:19-21 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your
sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord;
8. 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preachedunto
you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all
things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets
since the world began.
Rom 11:26-27 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,
There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away
ungodliness from Jacob 2nd Advent
:
27 For this is my covenantunto them, when I shall take away their
sins.
1Cor 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews O.T/Trib.
, nor to the
Gentiles Mil. Eternity
, nor to the church of God Church-age
:
Rev 21:12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and
at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the
names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
Rev 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several
gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it
were transparentglass.
The “merchant man” is the Lord Jesus Christ He has been the anonymous “man”
in every parableuntil Now.
Spiritual application:
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed
the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the
church, and gave himself for it;
9. 1Pet 1:18-19 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot:
We are WARNED in Scriptureto look for thosewho denies that Christdid buy
anything with His blood!
2Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even
as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bringin
damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and
bring upon themselves swift destruction.
The “pearl of great price,” for Church-age(becausehe died for the “world” Hecan
convertyour slime into a sublime pearl-)
Matt 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchantman,
seeking goodly pearls:
1Cor 3:10 Accordingto the grace of God which is given unto me, as
a wise masterbuilder, I have laidthe foundation, and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Cor 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver,
precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Pet 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an
holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by
Jesus Christ.
The saved sinner comes froma muddy place under the wrath of God;
he is covered with Christ’s righteousness,
which was only made available through suffering;
he is destined to reign as a king (Rev. 1:1–6) a decoration for royalty!
10. Rev 1:5-6
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto
him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to
him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
The Man is Christ. The Pearl is Israel. The Great Price is the Blood of Christ.
