 Wildlife in Extinction

         Date
      07-03-2013
A species is considered endangered,
whether plant or animal, when all the
living members of that taxon are in
danger of disappearing. This may be due
to both direct predation on the species
and the disappearance of resources upon
which their lives, both human action, due
to changes in habitat, due to acts of God
(such as natural disasters) or gradual
changes in climate.
+
This large global problem can be caused by both
direct deforestation of the species or the
disappearance of some resource it depends on,
human action often produces changes in the habitat
of plants and trees, there is the threat of endangered
plant extinction on our planet also climate changes
(% minority) where his percentage is not very high.
Living plants important to our habitat, provide air to
humans, drinking water, food, fuel and medicines
especially. However, a large percentage of plants
are on the verge of extinction, join groups
  threatened the planet beings.
A study by the International Union for
Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the total
number of threatened plants amounted to
380,000 worldwide. Rainforests are the world's
most endangered regions and seedlings most
endangered species. The main culprits for this
  are humans.
In areas of flora destruction threaten our planet
has reached the Americas is one of the most
  affected. Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia,
Chile are among the most affected by the
  extinction of endangered flora.
ENDANGERED PLANTS IN THE DOMINICAN
   REPUBLIC
Many of the endemic species is threatened or endangered, the most
susceptible are those whose distribution is restricted to small areas and
reviews. Some of which are threatened with extinction are:
- Pereskia quisqueyana (Cactaceae), present in Bayahibe.
- Montecristina Salvia (Lamiaceae) in the Morro de Montecristi.
- Firefly Acacia (Mimosaceae), Sierra Martín García.
- Goetzea ekmanii (Goetzeaceae) in Cumayasa riverbank.
- Reinhardtia paiewonskiana (Palmae), Sierra de Bahoruco.
- Pseudophoenix ekmanii (Palmae), in Oviedo.
- Chacueyana Eugenia (Myrtaceae), in the river Chacuey.
- Pimenta haitiensis (Myrtaceae) in Oviedo - Pedernales.
- Caesalpinia barahonensis (Caesalpiniaceae), Sierra Martín García -
    Barahona.
- Talisia jimenezii (Sapindaceae), on the beach of Bayahibe.

There are also pine (Pinus occidentalis), royal palm (Roystonea hispaniolana),
palm or coconut catey macaque (Bactris plumeriana) and guano
  (Coccothrinax montana).
Recently the Alliance for Zero Extinction
prepared a report on the 595 sites in the
world where 794 species are concentrated
endangered, as many of these species are
small with little mobility and are inhabited
aerial restricted distribution.
The populations of American crocodiles, Ricord
iguana and turtles are among the endangered
species in the Dominican Republic, as a red list
released today by the Ministry of Environment and
  Natural Resources local.

The agency also reported that orchids and
bromeliads are among the most endangered
species of flora in the Caribbean nation.

The species of fauna and flora in critical conditions in
the country have been subjected to various threats,
which are habitat destruction, fragmentation of
  ecosystems, species and hunting
THE PEREGRINE FALCON ENDANGERED

The Peregrine Falcon is in danger of extinction, is a bird
that lives in South America, North America, Canada, Mexico
and Baja California, and also nests on offshore islands
  california Gulf.
This bird of medium size, has great flying skills, and chopped
can reach a speed of around 180 km / h, their food consists
of meat from other smaller birds that hunt in flight.
The population of this bird species was very strong, but is
now endangered and rarely seen a copy, the causes are
poisoning are caused by a toxic substance called restricted
  use DDT.

For this in Mexico and other countries, the Peregrine Falcon
became part lists endangered animals to raise public
awareness and try to save this species.
THE ENDANGERED TAPIR

It was common to see a tapir in the rainforests of southern Mexico
and Central America, it is very difficult to find a copy, which is
astonishing to researchers seeking this kind to try to preserve it, so
that extinction seems to be the fate of this species.
The main cause of this tragedy is the man who is about to wipe out a
species that has existed for many centuries.
The tapir is endangered, is an animal stout, with short legs and
elongated nose, similar to a small tube, the Tapirus bairdii is the
only species that lives in southeastern Mexico, and just may be the
odd copy after a search of several months.
The indiscriminate hunting, destruction of their habitat, their low
reproductive potential and their docility, have been the causes of
the threat of extinction. Pronatura currently performs a number of
activities to protect this species from extinction, but its
  implementation will take some time.
HAWKSBILL ENDANGERED

The hawksbill turtle is a species of medium size, not
measuring up to one meter in length, has the most narrow
and elongated head of all sea turtles, its beak is horny
sharp, narrow, no mountains at its edges and sharp as a
  hawk.
This turtle feeds on sponges, jellyfish, snails, crustaceans,
sea urchins, starfish, shellfish, seaweed and fish, can also
include in your diet to crabs, urchins and red crab.?
Inhabits the Pacific side from Baja California, Mexico to
southwestern Peru and northeastern Atlantic from the
United States, this is one of the most beautiful sea in the
world and has been so strongly captured to get their eggs,
their meat, skin and above the shell for use in the
manufacture of various ornamental objects such as combs,
jewelry and eyeglasses frames, so it is threatened and
  endangered.
THE MANATEE ENDANGERED

 The manatee is a species that is in critical danger of
extinction, food for several centuries the imagination of
sailors mistook as the sirens due to sea mist, now this
beautiful species is about to disappear from the planet.? the
main culprit of this crime is the man, because their meat
and trade, especially because it is an extremely easy to
hunt prey. The manatee meat is tasty and their skin is used
for the manufacture of whips, canes and shoe soles, the
bones of this endangered animal is used for ornamental
and jewelry, especially her ribs.? In Mexico can be found
southeast, covering coastal areas of the Gulf, from Veracruz
to Chetumal, in the Yucatan Peninsula, Pronatura is
proposing the creation of "safe havens and sanctuaries" for
recreation and research, in order to save the manatee
populations still exist in Mexico from extinction.
The populations of American crocodiles, Ricord iguana and
turtles are among the endangered species in the Dominican
Republic, according to a list released red by the Ministry of
Environment and Natural Resources local.?? The agency
reported, likewise , that orchids and bromeliads are among the
most endangered species of flora in the Caribbean nation.?
species of fauna and flora in critical conditions in the country
have been subjected to various threats, which are habitat
destruction , ecosystem fragmentation, hunting and introduced
species.?? However, the biggest threat is increasing the
agricultural frontier in the habitats themselves of them, the
environment ministry said in a statement.
CAUSES OF EXTINCTION OF ANIMALS

The main causes of the extinction of animals are
generally related to human activity, and this is totally true
and that has always been exploited natural resources
indiscriminately regardless of the dangers that this entails.
The main causes of the extinction of the species are:
1. The killing of animals for their fur value.? 2. The intensive
fishing and hunting to market their meat.? 3.
Contamination of alien species to their habitat, or
"invasive species." 4. Dams, waterways, and other large
enterprises that man constructs.? 5. Marine pollution by
oil loss.? 6. Erupting volcanoes and natural features such
as "gray death".? 7. Other pollutants affect, as the
deposits of uranium, polonium, radium and other
radioactive elements.? 8. Forest fires, crash boats, etc..
