6. The research behind “Your Greatest Gift” and this course was started in 1908 by Andrew Carnegie who was at that time the richest man in the world. He commissioned Napoleon Hill to spend 20 years researching and compiling material from over 500 of the most successful people in America on how they achieved their great success and what were the rules and laws they lived by to reach such tremendous success. He sent Napoleon Hill out with a letter of introduction to those 500 successful people.

7. Napoleon Hill did what Carnegie asked of him – he did spend the full 20 years researching the most successful people – plus 42 more years for a total of 62 years – until the day he died in 1970. In 1922, while he was still researching, he introduced the world’s first success achievement course in New York City - and the very first student was William Wrigley Jr. In 1970, Rick Gettle was commissioned by Napoleon Hill to carry on with his research and to market and teach his philosophy of success principles and laws. A few months later Napoleon Hill died at the age of 88.

Carnegie had a burning desire to commission someone to assemble this know-how of success through years of study and research, into a written philosophy so that future generations can profit by it without having to learn through the difficult lifetime process of trial and error. After interviewing over two hundred and fifty-two people, Mr. Carnegie selected twenty – five-year old Napoleon Hill to do this research. Napoleon Hill began his study of great achievers and leaders in 1908 and continued until he died at the age of 88.

12. We have a choice of only two roads upon which we can journey down the highway of life. One is the long rough road of trial and error. The other is the super highway of life.
