- Telecommunication options for distance learning are either synchronous or asynchronous. Asynchronous means delayed communication, not happening in real time. In asynchronous everyone involved can participate on their own schedule Synchronous communications means real-time communications – happening in the moment, immediacy. In synchronous Everyone involved on an activity must participate at the same time With the ease of recording options and memory and storage options available to the individual consumer, asynchronous communications have become a staple of many distance learning courses. Write some of these down and be ready to discuss them in class on Friday. Thinking about all the technology options available today at our fingertips via cell phones and www options – what are some technologies that distance learning courses could use to facilitate learning today?
