Giving employees clear direction, combined with engaging leadership will make employees feel as
if they own a stake in the company.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Winston Churchill. Let employees know that failure is an option and it isn’t the end
of the road. Through failure success will inevitably arrive.
Listen intently to what employees have to say. Seek to ask questions that dig beneath the
surface to uncover greater challenges and possibilities to innovate.
Take the time to ensure that employees understand the purpose of the undertaking. Purpose
drives commitment. The strong the purpose the stronger the resolve to succeed.
A clear process to track and catalog ideas, along with an organized approach to creating and
innovating ideas will keep things moving forward. Keep progress moving so the results are
obvious.
Howto Gain A Powerful Reputation in Speaking
Don’t just talk. No matter how interesting your topic, no matter how interested the audience
constant talking will get boring. Change up your delivery. One way is by connecting with the
audience through a meaningful dramatization. Show, don’t tell the audience what you mean.
Watch Bill Gates do exactly this at TED.
The average memory and attention span, especially in the digital age, are short. Listen to
Pop Music on the radio. The hooks, or choruses, are short, catchy and repeatable lines.
Create your own headlines, something people can easily relay to each other which
describes in detail what your product or presentation can do for them.
Make the audience feel something. Don’t tell them how what you’re doing will help, show
them through visuals. No matter the topic your words will have greatest impact if you
show a perspective, especially if you put the audience into the story. If you are trying to
feed starving children, images of children starving will pull in the audience.
Use stories to connect directly to their fears about what you’re offering, using real people
that are similar to people in your audience will create a deeper connection. Using stories
is the oldest, time tested method for passing along information.
Getting attention is the ultimate key, keeping the attention is vital. Using a shocking
statistic can do both. This can be a statistic that everyone thought was true, was false. You
may have heard the statement more people would rather be in a casket than giving the
eulogy, that was a shocking statistic when it originated.
