schools, and increase the healthy food
options.
Children can help care for the
garden, and learn about the fruits and
vegetables

Farm to School program works with local
farmers that either allow the schools to
obtain locally grown fruits and
vegetables to serve, help with a school
garden, and/or come in and teach the
children about the different
foods(Tedeschi).

but who can afford to buy fresh produce
all of the time?
School gardens would give the
children the chance to take home
fresh produce to their families at little
or no cost
Local farmers market is another great
option for affordable produce

Scavenger Hunt
Make some clues for children to be able to go from place to
place
Make the rule they must run or jog from each clue to the next
Make sure to offer them a special reward or treat at the end
for finding the special item at the final destination

Mini Triathlon
Find items you have at home that require movement
(examples hula hoop, basketball, soccer
ball, hopscotch)
Set the items around the yard, and set a timer so that
each child participates in each activity for 5-10
minutes and then moves to the next activity
Offer a reward or treat as a prize for completing all of
the tasks this will help encourage the child to partake
in more exercises.
