SuperAgent QuickStart Student Handout Response Time Insight When a transaction flows across your infrastructure, it essentially flows through three main components of your infrastructure – the network, the server and the application. When performance degrades on any of these components it can in turn adversely affect the transaction times to the end users and this insight is what SuperAgent offers you. You can now easily see in this stacked graph that shows the total response time, which component of your infrastructure is causing the delay and this enables you to quickly point out which group needs to work on improving performance. So how do we define each of these components, lets start with server response time. It is the amount of time it takes for a server to respond to a request Click 2: Data Transfer Time: It is the amount of time it takes the servers to send all the requested data Click 3: Network Round Trip Time: It is the amount of time it takes for a packet to traverse the network. Click 4: These add up to the Total Transaction Time. Next slide: Base Lining Behavior Now that you understand how we can use response time to understand performance of an application, let’s look at how we base line this information to understand performance.
