Sebastian Irarrázaval was born in Santiago,
Chile, in 1967. He received his degree in Architecture from
the Universidad Católica de Chile in 1991. He received a
British Council scholarship for graduate studies in 1993
and studied urbanism at the AA School in London. In 1999,
he received the AOA (Architecture Offices Association)
award bestowed for the most outstanding young architect.
He has taught at design studios of the School of Architecture
in the Universidad Católica de Chile since 1994. He has
also taught at the University of Arizona, Universidad Central
de Caracas and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He has participated in the architecture biennales of
Santiago, Mexico and Venice and has exhibited his work
at the UIA in Barcelona. Recently, he exhibited his own
works in the exhibition “Young Iberoamerican Architects”
at Harvard University and in “'Contemporary Space in
Chile”organized by the Catalonian Architects Union in
Barcelona and the Venice Biennale. Currently he is working
on the design of experimental dwellings and a hotel in
Patagonia.
