4.who would be the audience for your media product
1. 4. WHO WOULD BE THE
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT
2. My media product has been created for a niche social group. That is, funk
fans. Due to this, I have created my magazine for my primary audience rather
than for my secondary audience.
Having said this, my product would be for the older generation (30 and
above) this is because they were around during the rain of funk.
My target audience would have to be people who are in love with soul full
music, people who not afraid to be their selves and people who are not
afraid to be different. (these are all stereotypes of funk) However, these
individuals would have to know the history of funk to be able to
appreciate the content of my magazine. For instance; some cover lines
and the words used in them.
3. POTENCIAL TARGET AUDINCES.
This age group is mainly occupied by over 30’s this is because they were around during the
rain of funk music.
Due to my main image, my target audience would be stereotyped as wild individual, they
may then be regarded as outgoing people; which is what funk is about. Having said this, i
do not want to indirectly stereotype my target audience in a negative way, or indirectly
limit my target audience. So to avoid this; i would have to include (maybe) a verity of
potential funk audience, i say maybe because in the 1960's funk was stereotypically made
for the black population, and was a way for them to release any emotion or anger they
had within them.
I think my target audience would find my main image/front image appealing, i say this
because it follows the conventions funk music rather than the conventions of an ordinary
magazine. I kept my target audience connected to the image by creating synthetic
personality between the audience and the image. This meant that my main image had to
include a person (whether male or female) to look directly at the camera; target audience.
which makes them feel "special".
