The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are summer programs that teach students how the government works while developing leadership skills. Students run for office, create and enforce laws, and actively participate in running a mock government. Participants meet other students from across their state and develop lifelong friendships. The programs help students gain confidence and leadership skills that shape their future, and many states offer scholarships for attendees.
