2. Three Reasons Your Audience Is Not
Listening
How do you engage your audience? It’s a little science and a
little human connection; let me explain. Many times we
forget that the numbers following us are actually people with
names, places of origin, and lives of their very own. They are
as dynamic as you and I. So, why do we treat them like static
digits on the sidebar of our sites? See Reasons.
No Focus, No Audience
If you aren’t focused and have specific topics you write about, it can appear to the people who
visit your blog that you are all over the place. Maybe you are or maybe your aren’t, but in the
world of online interactions, perception is HUGE. It’s super important that you have a topic,
subject, or focus for your blog and you stick to it. Read More.
Your Audience Really Isn’t Yours
What do I mean when I say, “Your audience really isn’t yours?” It means that you are simply
trying to share or sell the wrong things to the wrong people. It happens all the time; when
youtalk to people about things they don’t care about, you won’t get a very good response. Most
likely you will get some hits to your site, but as soon as they land on your page, they will turn
and walk away. See More
3. You are Not Yourself
When you write a blog post, how many times do you consider sharing something personal or
giving your real opinion on something and then back out? If you are one of these people then I
would suggest that part of why your audience isn’t listening is because they think you might be
too serious or hiding something. When you aren’t yourself then you are ultimately putting up a
front. This gives people the impression that you aren’t being true to your own beliefs and actions.
This in turn makes you less trustworthy; people do not take the time to learn from people they
don’t trust. After all, people don’t follow blogs, they follow people; they always have.
