Citrix has a team of 6 engineers full-time assigned to open source Xen and another 2 non engineers working on community (including me)On top of this 10-15% of XenServer team engineering capacity is dedicated to open source Xen (that varies depending on what is currently worked on)Not quite sure what the exact figures are, but we have almost 20 people in some form working on Xen projects and more if we include some of the openstack activitiesA recent example where Citrix discovered an opportunity is Project Kronos : 4 people are working on this (up from 0.5 3 months ago)We lead two out of three of the active Xen projects

Ian Pratt is the principal investigator for the project.XenoServer is a server that can safely execute foreign, potentially untrusted code. The XenoServer platform is a network of XenoServers meant to support distributed code execution services.TheXenoServer project is currently in development, and is a collaboration between Deutsche Telekom Laboratories and Cambridge University.theXenoServer project is implemented using the Xen VMM.

A few short years ago, Xen was a piece of paper with some big, radical ideas in it… today, it’s literally changed the world. The cloud wouldn’t exist today if weren’t for Xen. Making the connection from that paper… to what it’s become today.. and signed by all the “guest-friends” who helped make Ian’s vision a reality… feels like a great chord to strike, and a great way to kick off the conference.
