How effective is the
combination of your
main product and
Ancillary texts?
Research
In order for me to make ancillary text of sponsorship advert and radio advert I
had to research into already existing product to make sure I was creating
effective adverts. I research into similar products especially the most popular
ones. I did this as it would enable my product to aim at the same target
audience. An example of one the similar products I look at is Lucozade’s
Fitwater which also aims its products at a large group. I used this similar
product as my main influence for my product as it had a different style of
advertisement to the others as it used exercises as its main way of attracting a
new target audience. I adopted this style as I was it fond of it since it allowed
me two be more creative with my adverts. It was important for me to
understand the different forms and styles in order to create an effective water
adverts since would allow me to get a better understand of the audiences
reactions to the different styles and forms allowing me to identify the most
effective style.
conventions of sponsorships
In my research I found the conventions of sponsorship adverts which was extremely
helpful in the production of my ancillary text. One convention of a sponsorships
adverts is that they mention and show the logo of the company who they are
sponsoring to let the audience know that they are associated. Another convention
of sponsorship is that the advertiser make sure that they relate the advert to the
sponsors specialty. Sponsorships usually only last for 30 seconds or less. It
unconventional for a sponsorship to be a narrative since they are too short. In
addition, sponsorships usually play in between breaks of the show they are
sponsoring. Overall, in order for my ancillary text to be effective I had to ensure that
I followed these convention since they helped me to keep my advert professional as
well as compliment with my other main products.
Final sponsorship Advert
Do you think your sponsorship advert was
effective in complementing your Tv
adverts? Why?
I thought my sponsorship complimented my tv adverts because it carried the same forms and
styles of my first adverts. This complemented well with my first advert as it carried on using the
surrealism of the bottle appearing out of thing air. The theme of exercise carried onto my
sponsorship advert which complimented well with all the other adverts. In addition to this my
character costume also complemented well with my main production since he was wearing
jogging bottoms which are caused to exercise. Just like my other adverts I used simple shots to
keep up with characters movements. I did this in order to keep the flow of the advert fast.
However, my sponsorship advert did not carry on the colour scheme of the my main adverts since
it was black and white at the beginning. This did not compliment with my two other adverts since
they maintain the same colors throughout the advert. Overall, I think my sponsorship advert went
well with my two other visual adverts making it effective since it did a great job of spreading my
overt message of staying healthy and exercising. I thought my advert complement my main
product since it used the same forms and styles.
Similar products
A comparable product to mine is Volvic who are
sponsoring a survival show. This was a comparable
product as it also used energy as its main theme as well
as being mineral water. I like the fact that Volvic used
surrealism in their adverts so I used it for inspiration for
my sponsorship. Volvic also uses dramatic changes in
colours very often so I used it in my sponsorship by
changing from black and white to natural colours.
Another comparable product is Fitwater which was a
huge inspiration to my production since it gave me the
idea of it providing energy as well as keeping you
hydrated. I used the idea of having a single person
present the product so I used the character from my
other two adverts.
These similar products help me to compliment my
sponsorship advert with the rest of my adverts as they
helped me understand the conventions of water adverts.
Drafting process
I researched into generic conventions of Sponsorship advert and I looked at
specific forms, styles and techniques to come with a Sponsorship style which
would satisfy the audiences expectation and combine well with overall
campaign. In order for me to make a conventional and successful sponsorship
advert I had to go through the drafting process. This allowed me to keep
improving my work after the feedback. I received feedback from my target
audience, peers and my teacher in order to meet the conventional and
effective advert that would satisfy the target audience.
Overall the drafting process was extremely useful in helping me to compliment
my sponsorship advert with the rest of my advert since it allowed me to see
what improvement had to make in order to get the same reactions from
audience as I would in my other media products.
Convention of a Radio advert
It is important to know the conventions of radio advert since there is are many
different styles to a radio advert. Radio adverts can range form 15 seconds to a
minute but usually they are 30 seconds long since they a fast paced. The advert
usually describes the products best qualities so the listener could tell if the
product is for them or not. Another, convention of radio adverts is that they
typically rely on the jungle to get the attention of the audience and jingles usually
have voice over which tell the audiences the product name. The language is
tailored to the target audience which indicates that I should ensure that my Radio
advert use language that is tailored at my chosen target audience. Furthermore,
Radio adverts also use music which is not copyrighted, the voice over is usually
upbeat and the advertiser use heavy persuasive language.
My final Radio advert
Do you think your Radio advert was
effective in complementing your Tv
adverts? Why?
My radio advert compliments my main products since it kept the same fast
pace as them. Another thing which compliment well with my radio advert is the
music pace going up when product is be spoken about. This compliment well
with my main production since I had the music play louder as it build up the
audience to hear the brand name. in addition, I made my advert in conventional
way using narratives to explain what the character was doing. This complement
well with my first tv advert since it also used narratives to explain the situation.
Overall my Radio advert complemented with Tv adverts because it used the
same theme of energy and also gave the audience an overt message about
exercising. Therefore my Radio advert compliment my adverts by using same
techniques to advertise the product.
Drafting process
The drafting process for my radio advert was important as it helped me to
identify the mistakes I was making. I found out about these mistakes by
asking peers and teacher to listen to my radio advert and tell whether it
was conventional advert or whether it did not sound like an water advert.
One improvement I made after the drafting process was add the sound of
opening a water bottle and drinking from it. This helped me improve my to
a more conventional and smooth radio advert in order for it to compliment
well with the rest of my media products. Overall, the drafting process was
helpful in improve my production because the audiences feedback allowed
me to improve the quality of it in order for me to get my ancillary text to
match.
Similar products
One comparable product to m radio
advert is nestle milo ‘play’ which had a
narrative theme to it. This was comparable
to my product since it had face pace as
well and had music which kept up with the
pace of the advert. In addition the advert
also used sound which indicated that the
product was being used this motivate me
to make diegetic sounds using a Tascam
to recorded them.
Cross Media convergence
A cross media convergence is when more then two
media platforms work together, they do this in order to
promote each other and attract each other audiences.
Adverts use this in order to be more effective in selling
the product to a new target audience. This is an
effective method of advertising since it allows to the
media platforms to promote each others ideas. An
example of a Cross media convergence is McDonalds
adverts and despicable me. This is a good example of
two media platforms working together because
McDonalds uses despicable me to attract a younger
audience to buy from them and despicable me gets
more viewers for the movie since McDonalds fans
might be interested in the movie which was promoted
through McDonalds advert.
Do all your products promote support and compliment each
other and how can this help the idea of media convergence and
how this can impact audience?
All my products complement, support and promoter each other through the
common convention in which I used in them. One convention I used is maintaining
the theme of the adverts which allowed my product to stay similar and compliment
with each other. I also used the same element throughout my media products, so it
could eventually have an impact on my target audience and allow them to start
associating the convention to my product.
I used the ancillary text to reach out to my target audience in more efficient way
since advertise on these platforms allowed me to spread media convergence. This
impact my audience as they start associating my product to exercise which is good
as it compliments well with my other products since it promoted them both. This is
because all my products all were motivating people to exercise by giving them
magic water which allow them to carry on exercising.

Just like my other adverts I used simple shots to keep up with characters movements. I did this in order to keep the flow of the advert fast. However, my sponsorship advert did not carry on the colour scheme of the my main adverts since it was black and white at the beginning. This did not compliment with my two other adverts since they maintain the same colors throughout the advert. Overall, I think my sponsorship advert went well with my two other visual adverts making it effective since it did a great job of spreading my overt message of staying healthy and exercising. I thought my advert complement my main product since it used the same forms and styles.
  • 6. Similar products A comparable product to mine is Volvic who are sponsoring a survival show. This was a comparable product as it also used energy as its main theme as well as being mineral water. I like the fact that Volvic used surrealism in their adverts so I used it for inspiration for my sponsorship. Volvic also uses dramatic changes in colours very often so I used it in my sponsorship by changing from black and white to natural colours. Another comparable product is Fitwater which was a huge inspiration to my production since it gave me the idea of it providing energy as well as keeping you hydrated. I used the idea of having a single person present the product so I used the character from my other two adverts. These similar products help me to compliment my sponsorship advert with the rest of my adverts as they helped me understand the conventions of water adverts.
  • 7. Drafting process I researched into generic conventions of Sponsorship advert and I looked at specific forms, styles and techniques to come with a Sponsorship style which would satisfy the audiences expectation and combine well with overall campaign. In order for me to make a conventional and successful sponsorship advert I had to go through the drafting process. This allowed me to keep improving my work after the feedback. I received feedback from my target audience, peers and my teacher in order to meet the conventional and effective advert that would satisfy the target audience. Overall the drafting process was extremely useful in helping me to compliment my sponsorship advert with the rest of my advert since it allowed me to see what improvement had to make in order to get the same reactions from audience as I would in my other media products.
  • 8. Convention of a Radio advert It is important to know the conventions of radio advert since there is are many different styles to a radio advert. Radio adverts can range form 15 seconds to a minute but usually they are 30 seconds long since they a fast paced. The advert usually describes the products best qualities so the listener could tell if the product is for them or not. Another, convention of radio adverts is that they typically rely on the jungle to get the attention of the audience and jingles usually have voice over which tell the audiences the product name. The language is tailored to the target audience which indicates that I should ensure that my Radio advert use language that is tailored at my chosen target audience. Furthermore, Radio adverts also use music which is not copyrighted, the voice over is usually upbeat and the advertiser use heavy persuasive language.

  • 10. Do you think your Radio advert was effective in complementing your Tv adverts? Why? My radio advert compliments my main products since it kept the same fast pace as them. Another thing which compliment well with my radio advert is the music pace going up when product is be spoken about. This compliment well with my main production since I had the music play louder as it build up the audience to hear the brand name. in addition, I made my advert in conventional way using narratives to explain what the character was doing. This complement well with my first tv advert since it also used narratives to explain the situation. Overall my Radio advert complemented with Tv adverts because it used the same theme of energy and also gave the audience an overt message about exercising. Therefore my Radio advert compliment my adverts by using same techniques to advertise the product.
  • 11. Drafting process The drafting process for my radio advert was important as it helped me to identify the mistakes I was making. I found out about these mistakes by asking peers and teacher to listen to my radio advert and tell whether it was conventional advert or whether it did not sound like an water advert. One improvement I made after the drafting process was add the sound of opening a water bottle and drinking from it. This helped me improve my to a more conventional and smooth radio advert in order for it to compliment well with the rest of my media products. Overall, the drafting process was helpful in improve my production because the audiences feedback allowed me to improve the quality of it in order for me to get my ancillary text to match.
  • 12. Similar products One comparable product to m radio advert is nestle milo ‘play’ which had a narrative theme to it. This was comparable to my product since it had face pace as well and had music which kept up with the pace of the advert. In addition the advert also used sound which indicated that the product was being used this motivate me to make diegetic sounds using a Tascam to recorded them.
  • 13. Cross Media convergence A cross media convergence is when more then two media platforms work together, they do this in order to promote each other and attract each other audiences. Adverts use this in order to be more effective in selling the product to a new target audience. This is an effective method of advertising since it allows to the media platforms to promote each others ideas. An example of a Cross media convergence is McDonalds adverts and despicable me. This is a good example of two media platforms working together because McDonalds uses despicable me to attract a younger audience to buy from them and despicable me gets more viewers for the movie since McDonalds fans might be interested in the movie which was promoted through McDonalds advert.
  • 14. Do all your products promote support and compliment each other and how can this help the idea of media convergence and how this can impact audience? All my products complement, support and promoter each other through the common convention in which I used in them. One convention I used is maintaining the theme of the adverts which allowed my product to stay similar and compliment with each other. I also used the same element throughout my media products, so it could eventually have an impact on my target audience and allow them to start associating the convention to my product. I used the ancillary text to reach out to my target audience in more efficient way since advertise on these platforms allowed me to spread media convergence. This impact my audience as they start associating my product to exercise which is good as it compliments well with my other products since it promoted them both. This is because all my products all were motivating people to exercise by giving them magic water which allow them to carry on exercising.
