Pitch is a Bitch
Well let's get real it's a competing world
and only the best can survive. We have to
always try to get the most out but in a well
planned and organised way
Pitch Fundamentals
four wh questions that drive the pitch
What - this is can a product/idea/project/job etc
Who - are the people going to review your
presentation
Why - is the reason you have been asked to do
this pitch
When - when is the pitch
Who?
This is very important, as the pitch is personal,
since the one deciding is a person(s). It's
important to know likes/ dislikes . What is the
kind of exposure one has and how would they
perceive things. This might sound a bit too much ,
but trust me this helps in building trust and
earning freedom later down the project.
Photo by José Martín Ramírez C on Unsplash
Why?
Well the easiest part is the topic that you will be
pitching for it all comes in the brief or pitch
doc, but the pitch was created for a reason and
to your surprise it won't even be the same as the
topic .
• ask the right questions
• know how you will be judged
• dont try to hard, but try to impress
• show ownership
Sinek's golden circle
When
Well the obvious is very straight you have been
given a timeline and you deliver. But what we
also know is that if you were given 2 days to
prepare a pitch that means everyone who is
competing for the same will have the same time ,
means if we could deliver something that's looks
more than 2 days it would make a hell of an
impression. Always use timelines as a weapon to
win a pitch

Planning
Now that we have a good understanding of the
pitch, we can plan our effort and strategy.
Factors that you can consider when planning .
• Allocate resources if more people are involved.
• Create an outline for the presentation
• Plan a style for the presentation template •
depending on the domain
10/20/30 Rule
Create 10 slides, speak to 20 minutes and use 30pt
font size, the words of guy Kawasaki.
He also mentioned the basic outline that can help
us create presentation.
0 - Cover Page
1 - The Problem
2 - The solution
3 - The Market
4 - The Competition
5 - the business model
6 -The tech
7 - The Marketing
8 - The Team
9 - The projections
10 -Current Status
Creating Outlines
This is the fun part always use the topic sentence strate-
gy this helps you decide when should you reveal the main
content of the presentation here are a few points that
can help you build a great pitch
• Make every slide that subconsciously let's your
viewer predict the next slide but still is
unaware
• Always show the effort put it and rationalise it
• Use more images and icons and less content
• Make prototypes this always helps to convey the
idea
• Try to keep content in bullet points
• Keep a surprise slide
Designing Presentation
Make your presentation on any software, I
personally prefer Keynote, or a PDF. Animations
are never important but if your content has
animations like presenting a video or a app, then
let the content do the talking. Some guidelines
for designing a presentations
Designing Presentation
• Use pleasant colour pallette and avoid using contrasting
colours
• Keep a single font structure, avoid using multiple font
styles
• Use legible fonts if you want people to read
• Use images and icons - free resources ( The Noun Project
and Unsplash)
• Use a right size, since this would be a on screen
presentation, dont use print sizes.
• Use large fonts that can be read by users, which is
directly related to keeping less text and more visual
• Keep it short and precise, don't bore the viewers
Presentation
Well now you have a good presentation planned,
and designed. The fight is still not over. We have
to make present this in style. Here are a few
things that can help you create a killer
presentation
• Practice your presentation
• Time your slides
• Never read from your slides
• Rehearsal is the key
• Make changes according
What can ruin your Presentation?
As hard as it may be to give a great talk, it’s really easy to blow it.
1. Take a really long time to explain what your talk is about.
2. Speak slowly and dramatically. Why talk when you can orate?
3. Make sure you subtly let everyone know how important you are.
4. Refer to your book repeatedly. Even better, quote yourself from it.
5. Cram your slides with numerous text bullet points and multiple fonts.
6. Use lots of unexplained technical jargon to make yourself sound smart.
7. Speak at great length about the history of your organization and its
glorious achievements.
8. Don’t bother rehearsing to check how long your talk is running.
9. Sound as if you’re reciting your talk from memory.
10. Never, ever make eye contact with anyone in the audience
Appearances and
Body Language
Few things that can help create a better first
impression
• Wear smart and neutral clothes
• Speak slow and clear pronunciations
• Use hand gestures, this helps to get your
attention
• If more than one person is presenting than
colour coordination in clothing always helps
• Its okay to be nervous, but always smile and
greet.
