3. Web Erişilebilirliği Nedir?
• Web Erişilebilirliği tüm kullanıcıların, özellikle engelli
kullanıcıların Web’e erişebilmesi, kullanabilmesi ve
anlayabilmesidir.
• Web Erişilebilirliğinden yalnızca engelli kullanıcılar değil
tüm kullanıcılar yararlanabilir, özellikle mobil veya yaşlı
kullanıcılar.

12. Web Erişilebilirliği: …Biz?
• Türkçe kaynakların olması çok önemli;
– WCAG 2.0 birçok dile çevrilmiştir:
• http://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/translations
• Bilinçlendirme ve yaygınlaştırma gerekmektedir;
• Devlet sayfalarında zorunluluk getirilmesi yararlı olabilir;
– Örneğin, AB sayfalarında WCAG zorunluluğu var.
• Üç paydaşta (içerik, kullanıcı, ve geliştirici) teknolojik
destek sağlanması ve yaygınlaştırılması gerekmektedir
– Eğitim, Web erişilebilirliği otomatik değerlendirmesi, v.b

13. Kendi Araştırmalarım…
• W3C’nin 2 farklı grubu ile çalışıyorum:
– Research and Development Working Group (RDWG)
– Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG)
• Araştırmalarım
– Görmeyen ve mobil kullanıcılar için Web sayfalarının
dönüştürülmesi;
– Web erişilebilirliğinin değerlendirilmesi;
– Web erişilebilirliğini araştırma alanı olarak anlamak ve
geliştirmek.

15. EyeTracking
• Eye tracking teknolojisi
kullanıcının bir Web sayfasında
nereye baktığını takip edip, kayıt
yapar;
• Eye tracking kızıl ötesi ışın
teknolojisini kullanarak göze
çarpip gelen ışığı takip eder.

17. eMine Projesi
• TUBİTAK tarafından desteklenmiştir;
• Hedefi:
– Web sayfalarının otomatik olarak parçalara bölünüp,
– Kişilerin sayfayı okuma düzeneğini anlayarak,
– Sayfaları tekrar düzenlemek.
• Bu hedeflere ulaşmak için eye-tracking teknolojisini
kullanmaktadır.

19. Web Erişilebilirliğinin Değerlendirilmesi
• Web sayfalarının erişilebilirliğinin sistematik ve otomatik
olarak ölçülmesi;
• Yapılan araştırmalar sadece otomatik olarak test etmenin
yeterli olmadığını gösteriyor;

noktada engellimiyiz?
– Peki yaşlılar?
• Nasıl değerlendirilmesi gerekir?
• Kanun ve motivasyonun önemi ne?
• Web erişilebilirliğinin sağlanabilmesi için motivasyon ne
olmalıdır?

Today, my talk will mainly focus on research aspect of accessibility. My talk will have two parts:recent work on accessibility around the world, and us, and in the second half of my talk I will be presenting my research related to web accessibility.
Assistive technologies (AT) are software and hardware that people with disabilities use to interact with the Web, such as screen readers, screen magnification software, alternative keyboards, and voice input software and switches for people who cannot use a keyboard or mouse
Without a doubt, an image of a heat map showing the sum of what all participants looked is very easy to digest. Cognitive psychology: to investigate the relationship or interplay between the perception and the reading speed. In the field of ophthalmology, vision specialists use eye tracking to study ocular-motor behavior and vision deficiencies. For example, for the diagnosis of lazy-eye. Eye-tracking is used to investigate different aspects of HCI…Eye tracking is a well established technique for conducting research that embraces cognitive, social, pedagogical and other aspects of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Hotspots: Visualizations summarizing the positions from the participants' fixations on a coloured map over the Web pages. Hotspots indicate the areas that received the most fixations. Gazeplots: Display gaze points, fixations and scan-paths superimposed over the Web page. Gaze plots show how an individual’s visual attention was allocated on each Web page. Eye-tracking is used in fields such as: Cognitive psychology HCI & usability research Neuropsychology & mental health disorders Ophthalmology Eye movement has two states: * saccade—A saccade is the fastest movement of which the human body is capable—taking only about 30 milliseconds—and centers content within the foveal area. * fixation—A fixation occurs when this movement stops, permitting the eye to acquire content. During saccadic activity, we cannot see at all. We perceive the world visually only through fixations. The brain virtually integrates the visual images that we acquire through successive fixations. Hotspots—Generalize the behavior of a group of test subjects. They’re very similar to heat maps, as shown in Figure 3. Gaze plots—Provide a comprehensive image of all the eye-gaze data from a single eyetracking test. The second image shows the average path people are taking when viewing the page. The blue circles indicate where people looked, and the size of the circle indicates how long. Each circle has a number showing the sequence, and the blue lines show the path. Gaze replays—Provide both real-time and slow-motion replay of the paths a user’s eyes followed during an eyetracking test. Hotspot: Eye tracking data can be plotted as a heat map over the different screens viewed. The warm areas of the screen attracted the most attention of the user. These plots can be of individual users or of many users at once. Heatmaps: The red areas represent the most time, while yellow to green indicates very little time.
