3. Harvest Food Pantry
This kitchen storage room at Vineyard Christian Church of Evanston
is always waiting for volunteers that can cooperate in food
preparation, and its distribution. Some of the volunteering activities
to do here are setting up the place, filling registration forms,
cooking, serving, packing grocery bags, carrying food, welcoming
benefactors, and at the end of the day, help with some cleaning. If

4. Aquinas Literacy Center
This initiative of volunteering as a Tutor of ESL (English as a Second
Language) is developed by the Aquinas Literacy Center (ALC), a
community based organization on the southwest side of Chicago.
This organization benefits adults of the immigrant community in its
area by teaching them English as a Second Language respecting
their individualities. Although they have trained tutors, volunteers
are also needed to give one-on-one tutoring for 1 hour and half per
week. To volunteer here, you must fill first a pre registration, and
attend a two-part tutor training to get certified. For more

5. Maot Chitim of Greater Chicago, Inc
This Non-Profit Organization helps people in need of the Jewish
community of the greater Chicagoland, especially in Passover and
High Holidays. This mission gives holiday food packages or
community meal for individuals and families. Around 4.500 boxes
are distributed during the holidays, feeding about 12.000 people
each holiday. They require volunteers about three weeks before
each holiday for packing imperishable food articles in the boxes.
The day of the deliver, volunteers are needed at 6:00 AM to pack
the perishable food articles. In addition, they also need people
who have cars, SUV, minivans or trucks to deliver packages to the
residences of the families. You do not have to register first to

6. Dream On Education
This volunteer opportunity given by the Non-Profit Organization
“Dream on Education” is a regular basis one. They offer mentoring,
tutoring, career and cultural exposure to students from 6th to 8th
grade from low-income communities. The purpose of Dream On
Education is to narrow the gap between low-income community
children and high-income ones. This organization needs volunteers
who want to mentor a child with significant interactions at least
four hours per month. You as a mentor will talk with your mentee
about school issues, family life, friends, etc. Additionally, you will
help your mentee to create plans to face challenges, or to

The mission of Deborah’s Place is to offer a chance of a better life
for homeless women in Chicago. Therefore, they support these
women with housing, accessing to health care programs,
educational programs and employment training. In Deborah’s
Place, you can volunteer in single events such as going
landscaping, helping with administrative services, guiding activities
at its Learning Center, or playing board games with the women at
the place. Or you can help with current volunteer opportunities
like serving food, leading a group at the Learning Center or belong
