WATCHTOWER DOCTRINE REGARDING THE 144,000?
Core to Watchtower doctrine is that
only 144,000 humans will go to
heaven, where they are to rule as
kings. This number is based on
misinterpretation of Revelation 7 and
14, and also proven false by
Watchtower's own statistics of the
number of partakers since Jesus.
WATCHTOWER’S VIEW OF 144,000

Most Jehovah's Witnesses are not considered part of the
144,000 and do not expect to go to heaven. Rather, they
believe themselves part of the Great Crowd that will never die,
but rather reside forever on earth.
Prior to 1935, all "true Christians" were said to be anointed and
called to heaven. Therefore, everyone associating with the
Watchtower Society prior to 1935 was automatically part of the
heavenly class. Those who converted after 1935 generally are
told they have an earthly hope. What makes this doctrine quite
absurd is that it indicates God could only find 144,000 true
Christians over a period of 2000 years, yet over 6 million true
Witness Christians since 1935.

In Revelation 14, we see the 144,000 in Heaven,
on Mt. Sion, the heavenly mountain of God (the
identification of Mount Sion as a Heavenly
mountain and not the earthly Mount Zion is
confirmed in Hebrews chapter 12). It is clear at
this point that the 144,000 are dead and thus
“redeemed from the Earth”. It is this author’s
contention that the 144,000 will be some of the
first victims of the Great Persecution carried out
by the Antichrist that commences in Revelation
13.

Partaking of the emblems: doctrinal
restrictions
Only the ones who belong to the
144,000 anointed partake of the
emblems (i.e. eat from the bread and
drink from the wine). Thus they show
they belong to the second covenant
and are one with Christ. According to
the Watchtower-doctrine, the
anointed one is apparently under 'a
command' to partake of the bread and
wine (Gal. 6:16; Watchtower 1985,
March 1, Question From Readers).
WHY DO WATCHTOWERS DON’T
PARTAKE IN COMMUNION?

So in order to eat the bread and drink
the wine in this day and age 'lawfully',
you have to be (1) baptised as a
Jehovah's witness, (2) 'in good
standing', or at least not
disfellowshipped and (3) believe you
belong to the anointed class.
There are only a few thousands among
the JW's today who still believe they
go to heaven, the other JW's ("great
multitude of other sheep") believe
they will live for ever on paradise
earth. So the great

majority of Jw's do not drink from the
cup of wine or eat the bread, but
simply "pass" these emblems. Persons
who are present at the memorial, but
are no (baptised) JW's, are instructed
not to partake of the emblems.
In most congregations of Jehovah's
witnesses there are no anointed left,
so the emblems are "merely passed"
and left untouched.

Scripture clearly identifies the 144,000:
they are children of Israel. It is
important to note that when Scripture
uses the term “children of Israel” it is
referring to the lineage of Abraham.
It is not a reference to the Church.
The Church, in their spiritual connection
to Abraham through faith are referred
to as “Jews”
WHO IS A JEW?

and the “seed of Abraham” in Scripture,
adopted into the family of God through faith
in Christ. However the term “children of
Israel” refers to national Israel. In the New
Testament, the phrase “children of Israel” is
only used 14 times, and each is a reference to
