Empowerment through education and Training
This is a brief project report on the women development center. Training and education
women about their rights in the society. Training them and education them so that they can
stand on their own. Training will make them to develop an ability to stand for their own rights
in the society and justice. This project is very much suitable for companies looking for CSR
projects. A detailed report can be developed as per needs and requirement.

3. Present status of women – education & development –
If we look at the status of women across the world it is pathetic. Even with effort by govt. agencies and
govt. it self; 50% of the population is still under privileged or deprived of rights. If we consider the issue
one by one we can find gravity of the situation and need for work among them. Even if they are
educated they are not empowered or not part of decision making process.
Education:
Literacy among the women is low all emerging market and poor countries compared to men.
Literacy among women is less than men. Rural areas, forest and tribal areas are very low literacy areas.
There is strong need to increase literacy among women. If we wish to have better and developing
society we need better status for women.
Status of women in society:
(i) Attachments – National women commission report.
(ii) HRD index report.
(iii) Any other report on status of
(iv) If we consider status of women in society on the basis of different issues –
(a) Fetus identification and killings – Punjab is India's one of the most reach state. No. of
women per thousand male is continuous reducing now it has come to alarming low
level of 943-873. This has sharp decline in last decade. It has become possible because
of large number of fetus identification and killing of female fetus. A situation is more or
less same all over India. Nobody wants female child. Because they face difficult
situation in future. Any woman who delivers baby child is being tortured. All of this is
because nobody wants baby child.
(b) Other crimes like – rape, parading naked, are common in the society. These are mostly
not reported; even if they are reported rarely convicted. Recently a girl being rape in
local train compartment in Mumbai in front of 5 or 6 co-passengers. It is common and
increased. Sexual abuse at the working place is also common. But there is no remedy.

(c) Percentages of working women are very less. Even though now they have reservation at
local bodies will it solve the problems? There is need to work so women are equal
partner in growth and development. For the same work they are paid. This attitude
must be changed.
(d) Health facilities are not made available to the women. More important; they are
malnourished, underweight. They are not provided proper treatment during pregnancy
and after delivery. This all results into high death during deliveries.
(e) Property: Even though constitution has given women right in property of father &
husband; but they are not given it. It is one of the most difficult changes for the society.
They rarely own the property. Even though they have so many rights, they are sold like
product in the marriage market.
Why Education:-
Literacy is one thing which teacher how to read and write. But education is much more than
that. Education enlightens mind. Increases power to understand analyses and take decision. It builds
capacity to fight against odds.
Education program will have three parts.
(a) Literacy.
(b) To know the rights of women and role in building a society.
(c) To form a movement so fight against social evils.

4. Women empowerment and development through education
Women will be trained so that over all personality develops. Basically with 30% reservation in local
bodies; this process has new dimension. What they can do in their areas on different social issues. How
they can change the perspective of society.
Female Child :
The first and foremost reason is the social restrictions. There is no tradition of teaching to the girl child.
Even if she is sending to the schooling; it is only for an early age adventure and not allowed after 10
years. In the present social structure we think there is need to change this tradition. Thirdly early
engagements and marriages are the foremost reasons for the leaving education.
The second important reason is the no facilities available. If facilities for education are not available in
the vicinity then the girl child will not be sent to the school. Because of these two factors they are force
to leave education.
Poverty is another reason; and girl child is not priority of the home. So she never gets proper education
so even if family wishes and tries it is not affordable for them to get education.

5. PROGRAMME FOR FEMALE: GIRLS & WOMEN

While planning for education program some factors must be taken into consideration. The timing of the
class is very important factor. These girls/women are working at homes. So timing of their program
should be such that they can come to class usually these timing should be in the afternoon or night.
The timing of these classes and duration should be short daily two hours or something like this only. So
that maximum number can participate. If such program is designed and students are motivated good
number of girls can participate in it.
Another important factor is tutor must be lady. Otherwise participation will be low.
These courses should be designed in such a way that it should have its utility also. Towards employment
the course should include cooking, stitching, embroidery art & craft etc.
Leadership and personality development:-
One month training program will be held to develop leadership qualities among women groups. How
they can lead. What they can do for self and for other a confidence building measure. They will be
trained to face the challenges of the society.
Rights of women:-
One month training will be provided to the women about constitution. What it says on rights of women.
The property rights, education, reservation, child marriages, dowry etc. Women will be trained to how
to get rights from the society. How exploitation of women can be stopped.

Child care, Development and role in building new generation –
Women will be trained in upbringing of children's. Women will be trained to, how to take care of new
born, health problems, their solutions. But not only up to basic level of childcare – further.
They will be thought lesson on sending their daughters to school, and importance of education, sending
children to school, taking their care home work and all round development of child. Role of women in
building society will be the theme of training, role of a woman in developing a society – what are their
responsibilities. How can they play fruitful role in advancement of society?
Planning for women education –
There will be one major center; it will act as training, development center. It will act as head office for all
activities. It will have all the services and facilities for women center; and team of social worker. It will
act as head office for women movement.
Apart from one head office center; there will unit all over the area. These units will act as outlet of the
activities. It will run all the courses of women training & development.
Developing a women movement against social evils
If we wish to change the society, then first step is train the mother to change. This change can come
through women movement. A women movement can only fight against social evils as well as issues of
the women. A women movement will be promoted. It will organize regular camps, seminar, symposium
for the women. It will have its units in the areas. It will take social and family issues for the development
of women. It will have central office with all facilities Regional offices, and units. These together will
form a movement for all development of women.
The issues it will fight for:-
1. Dowry – Dowry is one of the biggest social evil. More and more girl child being killed in womb
itself. Those who can't afford dowry, their daughter are difficult to get married. This gives rise to
many social problems. Even if they are paid enough dowry; girls are tortured for more.......in
many cases, they are killed by in-laws. This story goes on....... This must stop.........today

marriage has become market of sale and purchase........and bargaining goes on.........this results
into dividing hearts and family where women are degraded.
A long continuous awareness campaign will be carried on. Both the parties will be convinced not
to take dowry in money, kind, and material. Marriage must be made a simple and affordable for
everybody.
2. Obscenity – Indecent Presentation of women Beauty Contest/Film/Advt.
This is another social evil, which is destroying social structure. A continuous campaign against
beauty contest, movies, and advertisement should be carried. This continuous campaign and
legal fight against such issues and fraternity can only save the society from the evil. Beauty
contest, fashion shows are becoming daily events, there is strong need to fight against them;
and stop any such even. It is a long journey, which takes tedious path; it needs lot of
commitments, determination to fight against it.
As this evil and pubs are becoming part and parcel of life, fight against them is difficult.
3. Atrocities –
Crimes against women are increasing fast. They never get justice; their cases are not registered.
Under these circumstances women are worried lot. 80% accused in rape cases are acquitted,
they are not punished, even under all other crimes situation is worst. Unsympathetic police and
administration slow judiciary, lack of evidence & complicated procedures, women can't dare to
fight her case. All these need strong perusal, legal battle determination continuation. Only a
movement can fight such battle with determination.
4. Home Violence :-
Home violence is another area where we need intervention. Primary or minor torture by in
laws or husband is not considered as violence at all. When it goes to third degree and becomes
unbearable, then only it goes to judiciary, even though there are many innervations rarely the
matter goes to the judiciary. Intervention by family, elders, panchayat etc. But women suffers

and rarely gets justice. Under these circumstances there is strong need at ground level for
intervention.
Such intervention by women activists group, counseling can only reduce the violence. Short stay
home, counseling, moral support and financial aid will help this society to be just.
5. Property rights :
This is another area where girls are denied their constitutional rites. There is strong need to
educate the people about their sites. Even women don't know what does it mean. Even if they
know it; hardly anything they can do for it. They are denied their rightful share in property.
Under these circumstances we need to propagate and educate women about their rites. Society
must be convinced, educated and campaign should be launch so that people can understand
importance of property distribution.
A continuous campaign will be carried out on this issue and movement will actively campaign for
it.

Every month one campaign will be organized. It will have following contents:-
