American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) member, Susan Johnson Melat's. Susan is a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) as well as an Occupational Therapist (OTR) and Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE). These are some of Susan’s tips to adjust your working area for better health: When working on a computer guidelines to stay healthy: more than 2 hours per day follow these Keep the keyboard and mouse at the same level and at elbow height. Adjust your chair height first to allow your feet to be flat on the floor, lumbar support in low back, armrests supporting arms, pan seat tilted forward and ear in line with shoulder and hip. Now adjust your keyboard tray to elbow height. If on fixed surface, raise or lower chair to get the keyboard and mouse at elbow height. Position monitor so the top of the screen is at eye level. A little lower if bifocal user. 5. Place documents on document holder next to monitor and same height. 6. Place phone to non-dominant side. Headset if on phone more than 2 hours per day. 7. Do not reach for mouse or input device. Elbows should be at a 90 degree angle. Keep wrists straight. Proper Posture

Focus Group Many do not realise the long term effects of constantly referring to their books while using laptops.  They do not feel the need to have our product.
HOWEVER, After trying out our prototype, they seem to realise the benefits of it!!! we should raise awareness about ergonomics.
The problems of our current product…
1. The support at the back of the bookstand does not have anything to prevent it from sliding.
2. Pivoting the bookstand at one side may cause the laptop casing to topple.  We improvised our idea!!!

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. For our first 2 pie charts we want to establish that there is infact a market for this product
  2. The second part of our survey was about the use of cue cards to aid presentations
  3. As we can see the responses/ need for a lectern is not as popular as that for a book stand, and naturally this reflected when we asked repondents to vote for the features they prefered on their laptop.
  4. TWC Presentation 2(Joy) Slide 1: The new and improved laptop case now has 2 layers where the top layer will contain your laptop while the bottom layer will look like this! (Click once)That is actually an internal stand that will help in propping your book or notes so that it is on the same level as your laptop screen. (AnQi) Slide 2:Diagram 1 shows the stand when it is placed flat down where the red bar is the mechanism in which the stand will slide out from. (click)Diagram 2 is the back layer of the stand where the yellow bars are grooves that help in adjusting the angle of the stand to your preferred height. The small red dot is the stopper after you’ve slid the stand out. (click)The yellow coloured piece in Diagram 3 is the piece that is being propped against the grooves so to attain the required angle of your choice. The green coloured bits that you see in Diagrams 2 and 3 are the hinges of this stand. (click) (Joy) Slide 3: And.. This is how the mechanism for the stand will work. Firstly, the stand will slide out. (click)Then, you will open and pull the top layer towards you and adjust the yellow piece to your desired height. This stand can also be used to double-up as a lectern during presentations.
