1. MYSTERIOUS WOMAN (NARRATOR):
If you have received this letter, then I am dead.
It will be a mystery to you and all who have heard of my demise, exactly how I
died; this I know. As I was faced with a similar issue ten years ago. A record – of
all those who have faced this burden to date.
I have dedicated those ten short years to researching the tens of people before
me – those who have all died – and I reached the conclusion only a few days
prior to my death, that I would not live to see this through. That is why I have
written to you.
You are my successor.
Though we are no blood relations, and have never met in any physical form,
we have in fact, to the naked eye, no connection at all…
But I know now. I had to find you, know you, to understand why we and those
before us were chosen. Why we are made to face this cruelty. And now I know.
