ART : a powerful tool to build oneself Constellation Art to make children grow and relate to each other
Due to the numerous works of art-therapy, art is often spontaneously understood as  a way to express or overcome traumas. ART : powerful tool to build oneself?  At Constellation many children suffered from traumas and express them in their paintings  – soldier-child, casualties of massacres in Rwanda, children sexually abused, children who attended the violent death of their father –   or they refer  to the injuries and painful moments occurred in  their daily lives.

This approach is not the core action of Constellation. For us, artistic creation is primarily a  tool for self-development  which stands on 4 pilars :  It gives children the possiblity to  grow up  and  build themselves . CREATING BEING  VALUED STARTING UP PROJECTS KNOWING  &  RESPECTING  OTHERS
Creating Through the artistic expression,  we realize that we are  able to do things by ourself , without copying or replicating others’ work,  we learn and experience  freedom ,  we discover what  beauty  is.
4 essential basis : It is necessary to learn how to carefully  observe  the environment  and to seek for  understanding  what  is observed.  It  is also necessary to know about  colors  and to manage few  technics. India. Relaxing, dancing, breathing :  essential activities to favor creation Favoring creation by :  Feeling  good  and feeling  free Not  feeling  judged  ; not being  afraid of doing wrong.   Having a  friendly circle  which  encourages  you and  favors initiatives . Being  accompanied by artists  helps a lot!

Prevent the children from transfering or copying as these technics don’t teach them anything and break their self-confidence. Copying can only be a «  crutch  » or part of a learning process when  studying the grammar of art.  Tell the children to remember what they observed ; tell  them to not copy. Learning and doing by oneself

Knowing & Respecting Others Workshops and paintings favor exchanges : The exchanges within a group:  We learn to  work in community .  We learn to  respect   others’ material .  We learn to  express   ourselves  in the discussions within our group and in the reflexions on a theme before we paint it. The exchanges with the other groups:  By discovering other groups’ work, we benefit from their knowledge to progress and we  open up to their cultures and vision,  which are different from ours.
