4. Who And
What
Samana Santa is the seven
days that leads up to Easter
Sunday. The first day is el
Domingo de Ramos(Palm
Sunday). Everyone in Spain
celebrates this. Many
people burn incense, play
music, some a drum beat
and some choose silence. In
the South of Spain it is the
most popular.
5. How and
Why?
In Spain, when you go to
church on Palm Sunday you
carry a palm branch or an
olive branch. Boys carry a
plain branch and girls carry
one that has been decorated
with ribbons and sweets. The
branches are then blessed by
the priest. It is like a Spanish
Easter, but without the
chocolate eggs. It celebrates
Jesus’ crucifiction.
