Dear Colleagues & Friends,
On behalf of myself and Dr Ahmad Alamadi, I would like to welcome you all to the 12th
Middle East
Update in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the largest meeting of Otolaryngologists in the
Middle East.
We are particularly proud of this year’s programme in terms of depth of discussions and the
expertise of the faculty with more than 160 international and regional speakers sharing their
experience and skills in the following areas:
• Endoscopic ear surgery: the best instrument in the best way possible
• Chronic ear surgery: an update
• Current & developing management in restoration of conductive & sensory neural hearing loss
• Rhinology: emerging technologies, promising therapies, new directions
• Controversies in management of nasal airway & sleep disorders
• Rhinoplasty: technical pearls
• Contemporary update on skull base surgery
• New concepts in paediatric otolaryngology
• Thyroid cancer & surgery: in clinical practice guidelines
• Evaluation and management of swallowing and voice disorders
Every year, the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, invites a society to
participate in our annual meeting in Dubai.
This year we play host to the Indonesian Otorhinolaryngological Head and Neck Surgery Society
as the Guest Society, the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine, as the Guest University and
the Cincinnati Children’s Global Health Center and American Rhinology Society as the International
Guest Institution.
New in 2015, we are proud to introduce two new conferences; the 1st
World Congress on Endoscopic
Ear Surgery and the 1st
Middle East Thyroid Cancer Conference and six hands-on cadaver
workshops.
Given the tremendous success of the Young Otolaryngologists Day and Awards for the past
three years, for 2015, the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery have
sponsored the travel and accommodation of 100 residents from across the globe to participate in
the successful fourth year. They will be presenting their research papers and competing for three
best paper awards.
I would like to thank Dr. Michael Benninger, Chair, Head and Neck Institute, Cleveland Clinic,
Professor of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, the Activity
Director for the conference, for his continued support to the Middle East Update in Otolaryngology
