Find a book at UCT Libraries

1. Hunting for a book? And not sure where to start ?

2. This presentation will show you the quickest way to find a specific book in UCT Libraries. For detailed tutorials on using the Libraries’ catalogue, visit the Library Basics tutorials on our web site.

3. You want to find the book: Atomic structure and periodicity by Jack Barrett Does the Library have it? And if so, where is it shelved?

4. Open the Libraries web site: http://www.lib.uct.ac.za Click on Catalogue (ALEPH)

5. ALEPH is the name of our online catalogue. It contains records of all the books, journals, reports, theses, videos, DVDs and other materials in UCT Libraries

6. When the catalogue opens up ... Click on Browse

7. In the Browse screen ... Open the dropdown menu that lets you choose the index you want to browse in.

8. In the Browse screen ... Open the dropdown menu that lets you choose the index you want to browse in.

9. In the Browse screen ... AndselectTitle

10. In the Browse screen ... atomic structure Type in the first few words of the book’s title

11. A list of titles will open up … Click on the TITLE of the book you want

12. This calls up the catalogue record for the book ...

13. This calls up the catalogue record for the book ... TheLibraryfieldtellsyou which Library to go to. TheShelf mark fieldtellsyou where to look on the shelves
