1. Unit 57: Photography and Photographic
Practice
Research of other photographers work
2. EUGÈNE ATGET
Eugene Atget was born in the
February 12th 1857 in Libourne,
France and died August 4th 1927 in
Paris.
He moved to Paris in 1978 and
attended acting school after two
attempts at the entrance exam. He
left in 1887 because of an infection
of his vocal chords.
He started photography in 1888.
His work only gained worldwide
attention after his death.
3.
4. The main focal point of this picture is the
building, he has used the rule of thirds as
he has captured the sky, building and
water equally.
5. Eugène Atget was a urban landscape
photographer, he captured buildings
and scenery surrounding them. He
didn’t use any certain techniques but
instead used the texture, surfaces and
details of the thing he was
photographing to make a good image.
He used reflection a lot in his
photography.
6. I like this piece of work by Eugene
Atget because of the way he has
focused on the reflection rather than
the actual trees.
