This is a presentation about placing links in Wikipedia to digital objects in libraries. In doing so Wikipedia is strengthened because library materials become connected with articles. This also increases visits to the digital objects in library collections.

Belden – edited 700 articles (Jan. 09): 1) Users invariably search Google. For any given search users often find a link from their Google search to a Wikipedia article, so place links within articles in Wikipedia. All 700 edits go to U of North Texas “Portal to Texas History”. 48% of visitors to the portal start at Wikipedia.U of Washington – (DLIB) edited and wrote articles – looked at the image, text, and audio files (120,000 of them) and tried to match them with existing articles and created articles when none existed.The University of Wiscosin tried several Web 2.0 venues but rejected YouTube FaceBook and MySapce. But they identified items in its Digital Collections Center and added links to existing Wikipedia articles. [57,000 images and 296 hours of audio)
