I am sorry to bother you, I know how you are busy. I have attached the developing student reading skills presentation and proposal updated. Please let me know if you have any comments..
2. “Reading Association ":-
We value the additional skills of students.
We recognise that reading is more effective when
we encourage the students to read.
We support students to develop their skills in
reading.
3. Some General Strategies for Helping Students to
Develop their Reading Skills:
When we read, our overall goal is to monitor our
understanding and make sure that we are getting
meaning from the printed page.
This comprehension monitoring is a process that is
critical for students to develop, and it is one which
students often overlook.
Encouraging the students to monitor understanding
and use strategies while reading is a critical gift that
will provide benefits throughout life.
4. Activity 1: Story talk
Talking about what you read is another way to help
students to develop language and thinking skills.
You won't need to plan the talk, discuss every story,
or expect an answer.
5. Activity 2: Write and draw on
Writing and drawing help the students to
become a better reader. Some students love to
be creative when it comes to drawing, and
illustrations add visual imagery to stories.
7. Activity 4: Read to me
It's important to read to the students, but
equally important to listen to them read to you.
Students thrive on having someone appreciate
their developing skills.
8. Activity 5: Attract students attention by their
interests.
Let the students read books that have famous
cartoon characters in it or let them read about the
video games the play.
10. Activity 6:
Assign a small, interesting book to students every
day/week/month, and the students get to choose
their book individually. At the end of the time
chosen by you AND the students, the students tell
their classmates the summary of the story/book.
You should emphasis to the students not to take
this as a Homework, but to make it interesting to
them.
11. Activity 7:
Include reading in their school day?? We should
make a small amount of time from, for example,
Arabic or Social studies, and students can read
their little books. It is also a great way to make
school a little bit interesting to students.
