Learning Initiatives
Shared Purpose:
 based on the interests and learning needs of BCT
participants and their students
 designed to fit existing curriculum – not an add-on
 aligned with the competencies in the QEP
 developed over time to build collaborative
relationships
 all projects accepted, approval is not required
 lengths of projects will vary based on needs

include Recit support in planning and

Accessible Assistance:
 just-in-time pedagogical and technical assistance,
preferably by: Cycle Team, school staff
 as well as: Board and Recit Support and online
support through BCT Cycle Network
 opportunities to discuss challenges with
colleagues and benefit from face-to-face support
 use of face-to-face, telephone, email, Internet
assistance as needed

 access relevant support from school colleagues, BCT
Network colleagues, and Recit animators

START Starting A Collaborative Learning Initiative

  • 1. http://www.learnquebec.ca START: Starting BCT Collaborative Learning Initiatives Shared Purpose:  based on the interests and learning needs of BCT participants and their students  designed to fit existing curriculum – not an add-on  aligned with the competencies in the QEP  developed over time to build collaborative relationships  all projects accepted, approval is not required  lengths of projects will vary based on needs
  • 2. http://www.learnquebec.ca START: Starting BCT Collaborative Learning Initiatives Technology that works: access to up-to-date computers and required peripherals access to relevant websites on the Internet technical support to increase reliability include Recit support in planning and training
  • 3. http://www.learnquebec.ca START: Starting BCT Collaborative Learning Initiatives Accessible Assistance:  just-in-time pedagogical and technical assistance, preferably by: Cycle Team, school staff  as well as: Board and Recit Support and online support through BCT Cycle Network  opportunities to discuss challenges with colleagues and benefit from face-to-face support  use of face-to-face, telephone, email, Internet assistance as needed
  • 4. http://www.learnquebec.ca START: Starting BCT Collaborative Learning Initiatives Relevant Resources:  just-in-time information and/or training support on digital tools  support with specific challenges and issues that arise  sharing of examples of relevant use of software and digital resources  access to Sakai Community of Practice resources and support
  • 5. http://www.learnquebec.ca START: Starting BCT Collaborative Learning Initiatives Time:  for teachers to plan collaborative projects, especially where multiple classes are involved, to:  develop a shared purpose and make a commitment  identify the sources of available assistance  for teachers to plan how they will integrate the project into their own curriculum so that it is not an add-on, to:  determine the availability of the required technology  access relevant support from school colleagues, BCT Network colleagues, and Recit animators
