- 19. Academic Research Writing & Writing Skills (BCS1006) NUS has recently announced that it would make writing module compulsory for all its Freshman from 2012 onwards. NUS is not alone. The ability to write well is an important asset for all undergraduates. Hence the above CDS aims to e xpose students to the rigours of academic writing. It focuses on the writing process, structure of essays, idea development, and evaluation and use of resources. Students will also be required to submit literature reviews and an academic essay. Students who set sight on getting a degree should consider taking this CDS to give them a headstart in the university.
